A short 5 minutes on the wee, open boat, will ferry you over to Handa, an RSPB Reserve. They had a WHITE Puffin this year!! You can take a picnic over and stay for the day, an hour, or just a flying visit. The boat travels across regularly. Huge cliffs, under-pinned with salty sea stacks or giant proportions - be careful near the edges of this island! if you like your feathered-friends, this is the place to go. You can check seasonally which species you can best catch sight of in advance with a bit of Googling.

Magnificent torridonian sandstone cliffs rise from the Atlantic on the North West Coast of Handa Island. Each summer, nearly 100,000 seabirds breed here, including internationally important numbers of guillemots, razorbills and great skuas. Otters, dolphins, whales, basking sharks and orcas occasionally go by. Sailings to the island Monday to Saturday 9:00am to 2:00pm. Handa Island is a short ferry ride from the Tarbet turnoff 3 miles North of Scourie on the A894. While you wait have a drink or lunch at the Shorehouse Restaurant.
