To the right of the facade of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is the Colleoni Chapel, built between 1470 and 1476, this is one of the finest examples of the Renaissance in Italy. An entrance staircase bordered by a wrought iron gate protects a triumph of red and white marble columns with biblical symbols and stories around them.
