Ray’s in Ballard has gorgeous views and great seafood. The dining room is more formal (in Seattle, this means nice jeans and a button down shirt). However my favorite is the outdoor Cafe. It overlooks the Puget Sound and the entry to the Ballard Locks, so there’s a gorgeous view of the Sound and boats of all kinds. The food is more casual and fantastic. If it’s cold out, they have blankets and turn on outdoor heaters. When it’s raining they tent the dining space.

For amazing food on the water - absolutely go to Ray's. Go upstairs for the cafe for a more casual atmosphere. Ray's Boathouse is on the first floor and is fine dining.

A great lunch and dinner place. Sit outside, grab a beer and try their housemade smoked salmon on your salad. Yum.
