Santarella is an event venue and vacation rental known for the building locally known as "The Gingerbread House." It's an incredibly neat building & worth a drive-by to check it out. Be careful not to block the road if you pull over to get a photo. From their website: "The Gingerbread House was built to be a studio by English Sculptor Sir Henry Hudson Kitson. He is known for the Lexington Minuteman and Plymouth Rock Maiden statues in Massachusetts, as well as a number of Civil War bas-reliefs and sculptures in Vicksburg, Mississippi. ... The most striking feature of Kitson’s studio is its 80-ton, asphault shingled roof. The whole project took 3 workers 12 years to complete. "

A beautiful and rather unique property. Drive by and take some snap shots that will be sure to surprise your friends and family. Note: The property has been sold and is now a private residence. Be mindful of this if you do stop to take pics.

Santarella, affectionately known as the Tyringham Gingerbread House, is a truly unique and beautiful setting, a magical place where you can make your dreams come true. Built in 1739 and later transformed by Sir Henry Hudson Kitson, an English sculptor during the last 25 years of his life. This project consumed the remains of his earnings and he died a penniless man in 1947. Nowadays this house is used for weddings and upscale vacation rental. Nonetheless, it is worthwhile the drive to see it from the roadside.

Historic estate affectionately known as the "Gingerbread House" or as my kids called it "The Witches House". A truly magical site.
