The town of Nessebar (with a population of 10,000 people) is located 36 km northeast of Bourgas, on the Black Sea coast. In close proximity to it is another large Bulgarian resort - Sunny Beach.Today the old and the new part of the city are separated by a narrow isthmus. The old town is located on a small peninsula. Due to its exceptional cultural and historical richness, Nessebar was declared a museum, tourist and resort complex of international importance by Decree № 243 of the Council of Ministers of 18.07.1956.Tourists can learn more about the history and development of the village at the Archaeological Museum, which is located at the beginning of the peninsula. There are finds found during archeological excavations. Traces of past historical epochs are everywhere. On the territory of the Old Town there is a part of the fortress wall, which has been declared an architectural monument of national importance in issue 41 of the State Gazette since 1964. There are preserved a large number of churches, two of them - "St. Spas" and "St. Stephen" have been turned into museum objects.Those looking for more adrenaline and entertainment can take a tour over Nessebar by helicopter, on the beaches there are also boat trips, various water sports. The restaurants in the city are extremely diverse in terms of category and prices. Romantic natures prefer restaurants in the Old Town, and young people are looking for entertainment in the new part of town and in the nearby resort of Sunny Beach.

Nessebar is an ancient town which was established millenniums ago. It’s just 34km north from Burgas, easily accessible by car or by bus. It has rich history being ruled by Thracians, Greeks, Romanians, and Byzantines. Due to its unique architecture and archeological findings, Nessebar was included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Several things that you shouldn’t miss are the Mesemvria fortress, Archeologist Museum, Ancient Churches, and the old streets with the magnificent old houses. Of course, you can’t miss the emblematic old windmill just at the entrance of the old town.
