From the Etruscan civilization and up to the 1920s, Montecatini Val di Cecina was one of the richest copper mines in Europe. You can get a guided tour in parts of the mine, (there is a colony of more than 3000 bats living down there:) and you will find a lot of information abt the past and history of Montecatini.

Per chi ha voglia di immergersi in toto nella natura,consigliato visitare il Museo delle Miniere di rame,con visita turistica in italiano/inglese o tedesco. Subito dopo Pozzo Alfredo,e per chi volesse fare jogging o una semplice passeggiata,proseguire fino al parco eolico,da cui si può godere di un magnifica vista panoramica sul mare!
