Lake Colac is a large expanse of water edged by rushes and reeds filled with bird life and chirping frogs. It is a wonderful place for a gentle walk, bike ride or run (the foreshore path spans approx 3-4 km), a place to take nature photography, dip a toe in the water at the ‘beach’ near the botanical gardens and walk past the Colac Million Dollar Real Estate Mile, with its water-front homes. There’s an out-door gym at the Western end of the path. Or peruse the botanical gardens or Apex Park. Stop at the cafe in the botanical gardens to have a meal overlooking the lake.
