This is a little secret. Brixton prison has a fine dinning restaurant, where they educate and train prisoners on how to cook, serve and learn a new craft. The clink is their renowned restaurant. It is only open during the day and you must book early. It is worth the experience.

Located at Brixton Prison, the food is prepared and cooked by the prison’s inmates as part of their rehabilitation process helping them gain hospitality qualifications that they can use when they have finished their sentences. No sloppy canteen food here – it’s top quality fare served with non-alcoholic beverages. You need to pass a security check before dining at the restaurant.

The inmates serve you in the old governor’s house dating back to 1819, located within the prison, and some precautions have been taken, for instance it is alcohol free and plastic cutlery is used. Run as a charity, its research shows an impressive 41% drop in reoffending rates.
