The property is within walking distance of the historic town of Wallingford with its beautiful castle ruins, pubs & local amenities with walks along the river Thames.

Castle Loft, Central Wallingford

Wallingford was once home to one of the strongest and most important castles in England. In 1067 William the Conqueror instructed the building of the castle on his way to London to take the throne. In 1502 Henry VIII inherited the castle. On 17 November 1652 Cromwell’s Council of State ordered its demolition, making way for this newly built loft apartment within the castle boundary. Just 3 minutes walk from shops bars and restaurants, downstairs shower & cloakroom, gas central heating and WIFI.

A beautiful private space all to yourself, the Oak Barn has great character & enjoys lovely views over fields to the Chilterns beyond. You have your own entrance & key so can come & go as you please. The hamlet of Preston Crowmarsh lies on the river Thames & is a great place to wild swim & watch red kites. A 5 minute walk takes you to the Thames towpath & an 8 minute walk to the bus stop for Oxford and Reading. We leave you to enjoy your privacy but are next door in the main house if needed.

We are in the conservation area, two minutes from the Marketplace, with a wide choice of coffee shops, restaurants, a theatre/cinema and buses to Oxford, Henley & Reading. It is close to everything yet quiet as on a small one way street, light and airy, recently renovated so warm and cosy. We hope you love it as much as we do! A note of caution: this is our home so strictly no smoking, pets, stag, hen or rowdy parties.
