About 50 kms from San Jose, Volcan Irazu sits above the clouds at 3400m. It is a beautiful day trip that you can complement visiting Prusia, (if you want to hike), Cartago and Orosi. I would recommend driving there and staring your day early to get the most out of it

Highest Volcano in Costa Rica. Historic among the Cartago residents. Very nice views on the way up to the crater and also different restaurants in the nearby.
