One of the most iconic scenes in film history—Taylor and Nova coming upon the Statue of Liberty at the end of Planet of the Apes—was filmed at Point Dume. And though the beach might not be at the end of the world, it is at the end of Malibu; it’s a point that juts into the Pacific with a dramatic cliff’s edge that drops down to a beautiful crescent-shaped beach. It’s a perfect spot for a beach day. Hiking, rock climbing, swimming, cave exploration, and scuba diving are all possibilities.
