Go to "Matosinhos" and its beaches. There´s a bus (nº 500) that goes directly to this city in front of the sea directly from the main square (Praça da Liberdade), always along the Douro river. There you can also find lots of restaurants to eat fresh fish. My favourite one. "Salta - O- Muro" (Rua Herós de França, 386).

Here you can find ATM, shops, bakeries, hospital, supermarket, laundry, gym, beauty and spa and public transport, such as subway station and buses.

Side by side you have another city next to Porto called Matosinhos whith a very nice beach.

Take the "Flor do Gás" boat in Afurada (see elsewhere in this guide for more info) and cross the river to the Porto side (you can take your bikes on the boat!). While there, you can extend your visit to Matosinhos Sul, a wonderful seaside neighbourhood where you can find some excellent fresh fish restaurants!
