Great hikes, both long and short, and most are "kid" friendly. Spectacular lava formations and slick rock scenery. There is a great "sand hill" that makes for a big play ground for the young and old.

The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm houses exceptionally well-preserved dinosaur tracks, fossil fish and plants, rare dinosaur remains, invertebrates traces and important sedimentary structures. This site is described by many paleontologists as “one of the ten best dinosaur track sites in the world” and is one of the most important discoveries in Early Jurassic paleontological history. Additionally, several uniquely accurate dinosaur reproductions, such as Scelidosaurus, Dilophosaurus, and Megapnosaurus, may also be seen here.

Although the trail is less than a mile to the top from the trailhead, the elevation gain is 1300 feet. Steep and rocky sections make this trail suitable only for hiking and trail running. A couple of sections have some exposure so make sure to watch your footing!
From the parking lot, after you cross a wash at the mouth of Frog Hollow Canyon, you are immediately introduced to the predominant grade of this trail- STEEP! About halfway up, the trail levels out for a little while before quickly becoming steep and rocky near the summit.
Once you have reached the summit, you are immediately rewarded with fantastic 360-degree views. Visible features include Pine Valley Mountain, the Red Desert, Sand Hollow Reservoir, St George City, Hurricane City, Zion, Kolob, and much more.

The canyon trail that has been carved out of the cliffs is known as 3 Falls. Although the falls are typically dry, visiting the area during or after a rainstorm usually gives you a great view of multiple waterfalls coming off the cliffs and down through the canyon.
On most days, since the canyon is dry, the main attraction is the seemingly endless amount of shallow caves on the canyon floor and higher up the cliff faces. If you would like to see the first waterfall, it is only a short 1/3 mile easy hike. The other 2 falls are much more difficult to access over steep, technical terrain. If you visit all three falls, the hike is about 3 miles round trip

The lake has a ton of new features including a man-made beach on a small, sectioned off portion of the lake. This part of the lake is perfect for swimming, especially with the kids or grandkids.
The larger portion of the lake is much more natural and is a perfect spot to bring a kayak or paddleboard. Distance swimming in this portion of the lake is also popular. Restroom facilities, a large grass park with trees, and additional parking were also added.
