A Wake Forest icon for 100+ years. Greasy spoon that serves “them red hotdogs.” Pool hall in the back. My grandmother Mildred wouldn't let me go here as a kid due to the gambling and “filthy lucre.”

Arts & Culture

Built around 1820, this Federal-style, two-story farmhouse was owned by Dr. Calvin Jones. By 1823, one of the rear rooms was the first Wake Forest Post Office and another was likely Dr. Jones' medical office. It was originally located on the campus where Stealey Hall now stands. It was moved to this location in 1956 and restored in the 1960s by the Wake Forest College Birthplace Society and is currently part of the Wake Forest Historical Museum.
