This is a great new science museum that opened in the summer of 2013. It's an amazing museum but I recommend going in the afternoon to avoid being ambushed by school children on field trips.

It's not the Met but it's a very respectable art museum that nearly always has interesting special exhibits to see. Across the street is the Nasher sculpture museum which is also worthwhile.

D Magazine has recognized it as one of the best pizzas in Dallas. I'm not sure its the best in Dallas but it's definitely the best you can walk to in less than 10 minutes. Great brunch on the weekends with $2 mimosas.

The Dallas Farmers market is open every day of the week but is really worth a visit on the weekends when all of the local vendors show up with their wares. In addition to fruits and vegetables you will find several restaurants and retail stores. You can also find great tacos (la ventana), seafood (Rex's) and pizza (Bellatrino) among other options if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. And, it's less than a 5 minute walk from our place.

Our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant downtown is located right across from the Perot Museum and a short walk from the American Airlines Arena. The brisket tacos or enchiladas are the fantastic as are their avocado margaritas.

Featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and named Best BBQ in Dallas according to D Magazine the Pecan Lodge is a great stop for those wanting to experience some great Texas BBQ. It's not open for dinner on Monday's but go early and order the brisket/burnt ends as they will likely run out. If the line is too long or it's closed, keep walking down Main until you reach Terry Black's BBQ which is also excellent.

We always order the trompo tacos, you can get like 10 tacos with all the fixings for $20 which is perfect for 2 people. Also, the salsa they serve with the free chips and salsa is absolutely delicious! It also serves brunch on the weekends.

Very cool bronze statue of 49 larger than life longhorn cattle. All together, it's the largest bronze monument of it's kind in the world. If you are walking to the convention center you'll walk right by them. If your not going to the convention center then you should still go see this.

Dating back to the 1870s, this neighborhood was a hotbed for jazz music in the 1920s. After World War II businesses closed and people moved to the suburbs but in the 80s there was a music renaissance that has carried forward until today where you will find an exploding music scene with over 30 live music venues. The neighborhood is littered with cool graffiti, murals, abstract sculptures and interesting bars, restaurants and shops. During the day bring your camera, as it's a great setting for photography. At night, go there for food, drink, live music, comedy shows, karaoke, escape rooms, arts and crafts, dueling pianos, ax throwing and more.

It's also a bar and a restaurant but the draw is definitely the brewery and every Saturday from noon to 3:00 pm they open their doors for brewery tours. For $15 you get 3 drinks and a souvenir glass. If you are a beer connoisseur and want to experience a local Dallas brewery, it's a 10 minute walk.
