Chichaitos is a little neighborhood pub within walking (stumbling) distance. They are open Thursday-Sunday. It's a quaint little bar that's a lot of fun. The clientele is SUPER friendly, as is the staff. They only take cash or ATH/ATM. It's not on the menu, but the breaded shrimp is excellent. The specialty of the house is the Chichaito, a little liqueur based shot. It's like 1/2 or 3/4 ounce. They have several flavors and are very tasty. At $1.00 per shot, you can't go wrong.

It's a bit of a drive, but the Pirate Bar down in Naguabo is on a splendid beach front with a festive atmosphere. It get's super busy on Saturday night and Sunday. The bay area is stunningly beautiful. There are numerous pubs/bars/clubs in the area, along with a set of Kioskos to get some good eats. If you have a day to spare, it's definitely worth checking out.

Food Scene

Good food. Fresh lobster from local fisherman. It's more of an upscale place, a bit on the pricey side, but worth it. The atmosphere is superb.

Awesome local eatery/bar. Tito, the owner, is SO nice and friendly. Their Shrimp or Conch salad is to die for. It's so damn good. The empanadas/pastelillos are also awesome. I'm hooked on a few different ones.

Upscale/fine dining. Close to the Los Croabas beach area. Food is good, but on the pricey side. It's a more formal dining setting, but there is no dress code.

Costa Mia is perfectly situated right next to Seven Seas Beach and Cabezas Bay. They serve standard Puerto Rico fare and cocktails. On the weekends in the summer it gets pretty festive. Many folks will come down to hang out at the beach, where the water literally gets bath-water warm. If it's not windy or storming, swimming in the bay is perfect. There are vendors there that rent snorkeling gear (and tours), kayaks, paddle boards, beach bikes, etc.

Parks & Nature

It's a bit of a hike to get there from the house (approx 1.5 km), but once you get there the beach is amazing. For snorkelers/divers, there is a straight shot from the beach out over the reef that's about a 200 m swim. The water is often crystal clear. Sometimes the currents can be strong.

This is the local Bio-Bay. It's a national reserve. There are guided tours every night. It's hit or miss on how well the little critters are luminescing, but it's a nice little kayak ride in the evening. Douse yourself with plenty of bug spray.

There are some great hiking trails in the rain forest. One of them takes you down to a nice waterfall where you can take a dip in the cool refreshing water. It's about 45 minutes from the house. Rain or shine, the rain forest is always a good place to go.

One of the nicer beaches you'll find. When it's busy, it's crazy busy. When it's not, it's pretty peaceful. It's the busiest during the summer months as it's a favorite of the locals. It has camping spots for 10.00 a night. Events off and on thru the summer. Centrally located. Great place to just go hang out.

There is a tour you can take that will teach about the local flora & fauna, and give a bit of history of the area.

Sightseeing

You can take the Ferry to either Vieques or Culebra for a day of sight seeing on the smaller islands. Each of them has something to see. Vieques has one of the best Bio Bays in the world, if not the best.

Entertainment & Activities

The water park is right next door. It's great for young kids & children. They have mini-golf, lots of water fountains and places for kids to play in the water. There are circuit training machines that focus on isometrics and calisthenics. It's pretty cheap too. Only a few dollars. It's sponsored by the Fajardo Municipality.
