Food Scene

The best baked goods I think I've had in Santiago. The pastry chef worked and studied in Banff, Alberta.

The best eggs benedict I've had in Chile thus far. Great coffee, roasted on site too! Nice ambience, good service. I highly recommend it.

Drinks & Nightlife

They have a great selection of local craft beers and all of their food is made with beer. It's pretty delicious.

Here is where Santiago Metalheads meet up. It's not really my scene, but it's an interesting spot if you're into that kind of music. Sometimes they have live music there as well. It's a classic place for most Santiaguinos.

Another great place for local craft beers! It may appear small, but go up to the second floor if it looks full. There's a table available up there.

Sightseeing

It's a huge hill with a massive statue of the Virgin Mary at the top. From above, you can see all of Santiago. To get there, you can either walk, cycle or take the funicular. I recommend the funicular and then on the way down, take the gondola.

Parks & Nature

This is where I normally go for runs and get together with my friends for picnics. It's a nice park with lots of activities along the way. There are some outdoor work out equipment that is free to use too!

Arts & Culture

This has a little of everything happening, like an art gallery on the basement floor that is normally free, theatre shows on a regular basis and there are always people dancing under the shaded entries.

Shopping

There are a quite a few little craft shops here that offer interesting and original local crafts. It's perfect for buying souvenirs. It's not the least expensive, but it is good quality and made my local artisans. If you don't have the money, then the market at Santa Lucia is great. Also if you have more time, you can check the market at Los Dominicos.

Essentials

This grocery store has pretty much all the basics (regular milk yes, almond milk no). The baggers do not earn a wage, so it is customary to tip them. I tip about 50pesos/bag.

There's a farmers market that sets up every Friday. It's a great and inexpensive way to get fruits and vegetables. There's a lot of screaming and yelling though, so don't get startled. Also, haggling is acceptable, especially when it's about to close (around 3:30)
