Drinks & Nightlife

Great view, great atmosphere. "The Dachboden" of the 25 hours hotel is a mixture of beach bar and parliament cafeteria. Only no sand, or neckties. Besides different brands of soft drinks, there is always a selection of Austrian wines and of course a decent offering of beer and long drinks. The loft isn't meant for a full dining experience. Although, you can always get a piece of homemade cake or some quiches.

Arts & Culture

An world-renoened opera house of the highest quality. Excellent ballet as well. Standing room tickets sold the same day for something like 5€. Check online for when they start to sell tickets (something like 6pm) but get there well before that. Excellent view. If you are happy just to hear but not see, the cheap seats are often as little as 9€. Choose near the stage for good acoustic as you will be above the orchestra (but high in the nosebleed seats). Decent tickets something like 60€. Otherwise tickets are as high as 200€

Sightseeing

Visit Empress Sisi’s former summer residence. This baroque complex contains an enchanting park, the Palm House, the Gloriette and a zoo. Spend an entire day at Schönbrunn: visit the show rooms with a "Grand Tour with Audio Guide," admire the splendid Bergl Rooms, and stroll through the “Labyrinth.” Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the imperial family, is one of Europe's most impressive Baroque palace complexes. The land had been in the possession of the Habsburgs since 1569, when the wife of Emperor Ferdinand II. had a summer residence built there in 1642, which she called "Schönbrunn". The palace and garden complex built here from 1696, after the Turkish occupation, was red

Treat a tour of the cathedral, Austria's most celebrated Gothic building. An elevator in the North Tower of the "Steffl" will take you and your children to see Austria's largest bell, known as the "Pummerin" or boomer. And if you have the energy you can climb the 343 steps to the Türmerstube (tower room) to enjoy unique views of Vienna and take a closer look at some of the cathedral's 230,000 roof tiles. If you are feeling particularly brave you can also take a tour of the catacombs - an underground burial vault.

Parks & Nature

City oases in summer! Summer in Vienna is best enjoyed in the open air. Numerous bars and restaurants – above all on the Danube Canal – offer the perfect place to chill out, and shorten the warm summer nights. Just a few paces from Vienna's old city, trendy restaurants and bars along the Danube Canal provide that Riviera feeling with sandy beaches, music, cool cocktails and delicious food. Strandbar Herrmann at the Urania beckons with deckchairs, hammocks, lots of sand, and brunch at the weekend. On the Badeschiff (pool boat) a few steps further along, an outdoor pool and refreshing drinks on the top deck are an attraction on hot summer days.

Gourgeous garden where you can chill out on the grass, see Mozart famous statue and his violin made out of flowers. The Viennese love their Mozart, but whether you like him or not, you'll love the garden. Don't miss it!

Food Scene

It is without a doubt on of the best Japanese restaurants in Vienna, far away from the cheap Asians ones you can find everywhere. A bit on the expensive side but not too extravagantly. Nearby Nestroyplatz is a nice, cozy public square.

If you want to taste the most classical, and in my opinion the best dish of Viennese cuisine – Tafelspitz – go to Plachutta. It is one of the most famous and traditional restaurants around. A bit more expensive, and slightly uptight atmosphere, but Tafelspitz they offer is definitely worth it.
