This is our village market & deli. Comfort food made daily—ask about their hot lunch special, order a pizza for dinner, pick up a pound of pasta salad! The nearest grocery store is a bit of a drive, so you can imagine how handy it is to be just a mile down the road from this classic little country shop.

Started in 1989, Long Trail has been producing quality American beer since long before that wasn’t a ridiculous idea. Back then, good beer meant spending a few extra bucks on imports. Long Trail was a pioneer of the ‘microbrew’ revolution.

The only floating bridge east of the Mississippi, spanning Sunset Lake ( also the home of the annual Ice Harvesting Festival! ) in the lovely town of Brookfield ( population 1,244). Great fishing from the bridge during the summer. Wonderful history ~ Brookfield is also home of the oldest continually operating library, dating back to 1791.

Bottled or Brita?

Our water is from our own private well. It tastes good and is safe to consume. Up-to-date testing reports a high iron oxide content, which is a natural result of rainwater absorbed by healthy soil and tends to smell like sulfur. We understand that things like drinking water can make or break a vacation home experience, so we provide a Brita pitcher and replacement filters for your use. BYOW, if you prefer!

Layers, layers, layers.

In Vermont we tend to experience 3 seasons in one day, so always pack a sweater for summer, two for fall, and three for winter (to wear at the same time--brrr!).

Support Local Businesses

We encourage our guests to support local farm-to-table restaurants and mom & pop diners. We have so many wonderful places to eat, not to mention our farmer's markets, food co-ops, and road-side fruit stands. Eating out every night isn't always cost-effective, so consider making use of the culinary possibilities that come with your vacation rental. We have built you a great big kitchen with a family-size dining area; there's a fire pit outside for hot dogs on a stick, a grill for burgers, and rivers all around for catching fish for dinner!
