Neighborhoods

The charming old neighborhood of Gulf Hills, was developed in 1927 by the Branigar Brothers from Chicago. Originally the property was developed as a resort with guest rooms, waterfront villas, club house, dude ranch & marina. Many believe that the resort was developed for the enjoyment of Chicago mobster Al Capone. Around 1951 Elvis Presley began frequenting the resort and stayed at villa #9. Hurricane Camille passed through in 1969 and destroyed most of the villas including the one Elvis enjoyed staying in.
