Hiking/walking trails and paths

There are several fantastic sightseeing trails nearby but you should do your do own diligence in their difficulty or fun for you. Some are paved paths, some are glorious sight seeing and a couple are posted to not allow dogs. I will share what we’ve been told, have done ourselves and frankly are a little jealous you might do before us
This trail is actually a good walking trail. There are several entry points and all have a lot of scenery to view. I liked the lower portion near Google but you can Mapquest it for more insight.

This is a MANDATORY sightseeing if you think the Gorge and river are wondrous. 30 min round trip from The Getaway and great hiking here or down below. Look down, you’ll see it!

Wonderful 30 min excursion to see Giraffes , camels, gazelles, deer, buffalo, zebras and perhaps more on any given day. Stay in your car, be polite to oncoming lookers and best of all, it’s free. Great for kids and adults alike.

Food scene

So really good pizza and adult beverages. They have an IPA, called The Dirty I believe. I consider the best in the town. The spicy pizza was my favorite. Good vibes there as well.

Affordable and quality food. The tacos hit the spot every time and I’m kinda a Al pastor taco snob. Hope it’s the same for you.

Listen, it’s big box and family geared but it really treated us right the last two times here not just with volume but flavor. Nice, night before leaving food coma.

Winery, brewery and purveyors of potions

So many of the locations are restaurants or serve pub fare but we go their to have a drink whether wine, beer, booze or maybe a stop for some legalized plant based treats. We’ll list the last few that we’re current on our visits.
So my brother described as something between, Willy Wonka and Vampire Lestat. Eclectic and eccentric for sure but the vibe and the conversation over a great bottle of their wines always checks the boxes for us. Highly recommend.

Little bit of a commute but two bridges get you there if one’s closed, across to Washington. The Chardonnay, vineyard and gorge view and the surrounding rock walls, well, it was brilliant. There are also several wineries in between worth seeing but Jacob wins so far for us when out that way.

Just convenient to The Getaway. If it’s your thing there’s several in town. I don’t mean to diminish any other place but it’s met guest expectations and the location is surrounded by restaurants and bars within a block.
