Tourism

Local tourism is important to our community. These are our favourite operators and attractions that create magical memories of your time in the Hokianga.
A great way to learn the history of Hokianga with a multisensory journey of guided storytelling – through art, taonga (cultural treasures), film, performance, digital interaction, and the splendour of Hokianga’s natural surroundings. This is a live performance so it’s important to call ahead to check booking times and whether they’re open.

Sights, hikes and nature

These are our favourite spots to visit and reconnect with natures beauty.
Arai te Uru is one of our favourite spots to sit and enjoy the full beauty of the Hokianga harbour on one side and the wild untouched ruggedness of the Tasman ocean on the other. The point is a solid 12km return walk from Pāhautea or for an easier option you can drive to the lookout and it’s a 10 minute easy walk along the ridge.
