Sunken wreck close (3m) to the shore. Great to snorkel or swim but go early on the weekends for good visibility and to avoid the crowds. Look for the Octopus that resides in the sunken canon to the right of the wreck.

See Kwokas in the wild. Cycle around the island to visit small beaches and pink salt lakes. Best to visit during the week to avoid the crowds, and the ferry trip is cheaper! You can rent bikes there or take your own across. You can take the ferry from Elizabeth Quay to get a longer river cruise and a view of Perth from the water or a quicker trip from Fremantle. I recommend leaving from Elizabeth Quay for a calm morning trip on the river and returning to Fremantle for dinner.

The most culture in one place in Perth. Live music, good clothes and book shopping, historic markets, gorgeous old architecture, very relaxed atmosphere. If you like your sleep though it's a good idea to stay outside of Fremantle because it can be noisy at night.

Located between the affluent Nedlands and UWA, Crawley is home to the University of Western Australia with its beautiful campus that includes sunken gardens, old architecture and tropical groves of trees. Broadway and Hamden Rd are the main hubs of activity outside the university and have a relaxed vibe with friendly community. Close to the city via public transport, only 15 min by bus, this is a great spot to stay if you want to be close to the university, or if you want to be based between the beaches and the city. Buses service Cottesloe (20min) and the train will take you to Fremantle's doorstep.
