With a small rocky beach, this is the only easily accessible access to Gander Lake. Come here for a picnic or place to relax by the water.

Gander Heritage Trails

The original town of Gander was built beside the airport. During the cold war it was deemed unsafe to have the town here so it was entirely relocated 5km down the road. You can go walk on the old town streets and read about the old site.

Great place for a hike or picnic. There are remains of a small plane crash on one of the trails for you to see. Also great place for snowshoeing in the winter.

Gander was originally developed because of the construction of the airport. See it's history, try out a flight simulator for yourself, or hear the air traffic control audio from 9/11 when all the aircraft came to land in Gander.
