Bayahibe is a resort town on the Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic. It's known for its sandy beaches and dive sites. Palm-fringed playa pública Bayahibe beach has a boat launch. Playa Dominicus is a long stretch of sand with coral reefs. To the east, the mainland section of Del Este National Park is dotted with caves, some with ancient rock art.

Located 19 kilometers (12 miles) south of the mainland, attracts more visitors than all of the country’s national parks combined. A protected site spanning 110km2 (42-square mile) and part of Cotubanamá National Park. Saona is a dream tropical escape, where long stretches of brilliant white sand and their giant coconut trees seem to melt into iridescent turquoise waters. Visitors can take day trips to enjoy the beaches, through a myriad of options ranging from speedboat to catamaran. Riding along Saona’s stunning coastline scenery alone is worthwhile. Most trips leave out of Bayahíbe village, from its small waterfront area. Stops in Saona include a swim at Palmilla, a white stretch with a wide natural pool, and at Mano Juan, the only inhabited portion of the island. Saona Island is also the DR’s most important turtle-nesting site.

Portions of the beach welcome cruise ship excursions, but the entire stretch is open for the public to enjoy. Catalina Island or Isla Catalina is a tropical island located 1.5 miles from the mainland on the south-east corner of the Dominican Republic, near La Altagracia and La Romana. It is an occasional destination for cruise ships on Caribbean routes.

ALTOS DE CHAVÓN AMPHITHEATER, 20 minutes from our Residence.
At the center of the historic 16th century replica Mediterranean village Altos de Chavón is the stunning 5,000-seat Grecian-style amphitheater. This architectural wonder has been the setting for countless concerts, events, and performances since its inauguration in 1982 by none other than the late Frank Sinatra for the live HBO special, “The Concert of the Hemispheres.” Other notable performers who have graced the stage include Sting, Elton John, Andrea Bocelli, Gloria Estefan, Alejandro Fernández, Marc Anthony, Spyro Gyra, Michel Camilo, Juan Luis Guerra, Air Supply, Julio Iglesias, Placido Domingo, and many more.
