Restaurants & Cafes

Like the name says, this is a fairly standard place. The pizza’s however are particularly good and very BIG (good value; I recommend!) - 80 -100 kr. They are the only restaurant in the area open till midnight everyday. It’s right across the street from the apartment (you can see it from the balcony). From Solna station, go straight to the tunnel and turn left (going up the stairs). Walk 20 meters and you are there.

(translated: The Frog) - if you want to eat very-well made & authentic Swedish food visit this restaurant. It’s actually not more pricier than any other fine dining place (200kr+/€20+ per dish) and it has a classic ambience with very good service. Tip! The Swedish meatballs are delicious.

Sightseeing

The most visited museum in Stockholm. Basically - it’s showcasing only one item - a ship (The Vasa) that sank more than 300 years ago. This museum is located on Djurgården island, 10 min walk from Skansen. There are free tour guides (in English, and perhaps other languages) fairly frequently.

The old town and probably the most visited area in Stockholm by tourists. Little narrow streets, souvenir shops, old German churches and buildings, basement restaurants & cafes and The King’s Castle (not recommended paying admission to go inside - its unimpressive). During December, there is also a small Xmas market with little cabins. How to get there: Take the train from Solna Station towards Stockholm City. Get off at Stockholm City (2 stops) and switch to the metro to get to Gamla Stan (1 stop). You can also walk from the Stockholm City station on the main street Drottninggatan (takes 15-20 min).

If you are crazy about ABBA this is the place to go :) 2 min walk from Skansen and 5-10 min walk from Vasa museum. A bit on the pricey side (ca 250 kr) but may be worth it if you are a big fan of them.

This is my favourite panorama view point in Stockholm - it’s a must. It's not marked on Google maps, so it’s a bit of a secret. Not only does it show you a view of the old town and the city hall - but also the area around (Monteliusvägen) is very cute, with very cool 19th century buildings and cobblestone roads. Strongly recommend. See: https://goo.gl/maps/BqvWaMhkXeE2 and https://www.tripadvisor.se/Attraction_Review-g189852-d3566460-Reviews-Monteliusvagen-Stockholm.html.

My favourite speakeasy bar in Stockholm. Feels more like you are in London and NYC (scaled down though). Open during the weekends for burlesque shows and amazing singing, or why not go on a Thursday for naughty bingo.

Under the Bridge or Garden, open until 05. An unpolished club with an underground touch. Several different dance floors that offer everything from dancehall to techno and house. Food trucks are inside. Amazing during the summer. They invite DJs from all over the world to play - so keep track of the current game schedule on their fb/ig.
