Located in City of Chaska's famous CHASKA CURLING CENTER Building in downtown Chaska, this place is another safe bet for food. In addition to typical mid-west bar food options, they are famous for huge Chicken Pot Pie, ideal for warming up in MN winter months. Building also houses famous as seen on "Curling Night in America" curling rink, there is also an event center for wedding and large gatherings , an out door amphitheater, board walk around Clay Hole pond, summer swimming beach, paddle board rental and access to extensive city trail system.

Excellent Thai restaurant with loads of healthy options. Family owned and operated, this place is a local favorite. Located in Chanhassen, it is about 6 miles from our place using back roads. One of my personal favorites and a no-chain for Chanhassen makes it a bit of a Unicorn.

Chaska's only dine in Pizza place is only 3 miles from our place. It overlooks large pond and wooded area and is on city trail. Also shares parking lot with a Kwik Trip, Liquor store and a Dairy Queen. Nice family place with attentive, friendly staff. Very busy on weekends until about 7:00, after that assuming there isn't a game at the high school, short wait. Even with the wait, it's worth it

Amazing bread and bakery options by family owned and operated shop. Recently remodeled interior has cool relaxed vibe with muted gray wainscoting and big stone fireplace. Order sandwiches off a chalkboard with specialty breads and hip designer sodas for a fun lunch option. Owners also have "Pop Up Pizza Night" about once a week. Like them on Facebook to get announcements. Also the Almond pastries are incredible!

Arts & Culture

Iconic Prince Recording studio and now a "Graceland" type of music shrine to the Minneapolis Funk scene. Good idea to book tickets in advance as people fly in from all over the world so access can be limited.

Parks & Nature

University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is one of the nicest in the country. "The Arb" as locals refer to it is famous for patenting several popular apple varieties and is currently working on cold resistant grapes for Minnesota's blossoming wine community. A 'can't miss" is the iconic Nine Mile Drive around perimeter with several dedicated garden areas featuring different local horticulture specialties.

One of the State's and certainly the Twin Cities least frequented parks. It is located just south of downtown Chaska off State Hwy 169 and near the entrance to the Renaissance Festival entrance. You will most likely not see any other people while out hiking or snow shoeing on "the loop", a 4.5 mile ring around and through various typographical settings. By the way, I HIGHLY recommend doing an "out and back" on your first couple of visits because when we first moved here, Cindy got lost and was cross country skiing for 7 hours before she found her way back! The trails come close to other trails that lead all the way down to St Peter.

Drinks & Nightlife

Schram is one of Waconia's wine makers but also a great little beer brewer. Beautiful site overlooking lake and vineyards and on many weekends they have a mobile wood fire pizza trailer out front. Good parking and is only about 12 miles from property.

Very charming wine store in old railroad depot in heart of downtown Chaska. Lovingly restored inside and filled with carefully chosen selections by owner operator, it is the perfect place to pick up a gift or something new to try. An experience verses a simple transaction. Wine tasting on Fridays and Saturdays.

Terrific brewery located in closely Victoria, Enki is a local favorite. The new location is in kind of a more commercial warehouse right off Hwy 5 and is about 8 miles from our place. Light app menu and the best logo-ed swag of any of our brew options. Fun place to get things going and to catch up on local news from dedicated fans of craft brews.

Local favorite with surprisingly good food menu and most weekend night, pretty darn good live music. Summer is for dining outside on multi-level patio and sound stage. You will eventually run into someone you know if you are local to Carver County. Also a favorite of bikers in the summer. (Not the Hell's Angels type, more of the rich suburban type so nothing to worry about...)

Sightseeing

Evening and afternoon cruises on famous Lake Minnetonka with a bar, light food option and a chance to see homes of Minnesota's richest residents from the water. We are the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" but this is commonly referred to as "The Lake" (We are about 12 miles south of the lake and Excelsior, the town itself. Loads of one off restaurants mostly quite upscale and a little pricey.)
