Lower Falls is the most popular destination on the Kancamagus Highway. It is a beautiful spot where the Swift River drops many feet over smooth granite rocks into a large pool. It is an ideal place to picnic, sun bathe, and swim. There is an 80 car parking lot, rest rooms, and picnic tables with charcoal grills.

During the summer, the small town of Jackson will often attract hundreds of visitors daily to its small falls and swimming holes at Jackson Falls. You will likely see numerous families letting their children roam free in the water and splash in the various pools and potholes of the upper falls of Jackson Falls for hours on end.

Highly recommend. The 7.6-mile Mt. Washington Auto Road is America's oldest and continuously-operating attraction. It was first opened to the public in 1861 as the Mt. Washington Carriage Road, in a time when guests made the four-hour journey to the summit in specially built, horse-drawn Abbot Downing Mountain Wagons. As a family-owned business, the company takes great pride in its progression through the years, and has preserved that history for all their current-day guests to enjoy. If you don't want to drive it, I suggest the Mount Washington Cog Railway.

Located in the heart of the majestic White Mountains region of northern New Hampshire, Marshfield Base Station is 6 miles east of Route 302 on the western face of Mount Washington. Even the drive along Base Station Road is beautiful– every twist and turn reveals new perspectives on the Presidential Range. Make sure to stop for some pictures at Upper Ammonoosuc Falls, an impressive rocky cascade and popular swimming hole just a few yards off the road. And keep your eyes open for wildlife- moose and bear sightings are not uncommon along the Base road!

The Kancamagus Highway portion of NH 112 begins just east of the town center. The state highway reenters the White Mountain National Forest, following the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River for approximately 4 miles (6 km), then the Hancock Branch for another 8 miles (13 km), steadily ascending as it progresses eastward. Following a series of hairpin turns, NH 112 crosses the height of land at 2,855-foot (870 m) Kancamagus Pass and begins to descend along the Swift River in the Saco River watershed, which it does for its remaining 21 miles (34 km). Eventually the highway leaves the National Forest and enters the town of Conway, where it terminates at Main Street (NH 16 / NH 113) west of downtown. The Kancamagus Highway is a very popular tourist destination due to its many scenic views and locations. Two scenic outlook sites are located along the Kancamagus Highway, including one from near the crest of Kancamagus Pass. There are six National Forest campground sites, along with numerous hiking trails.

Not an easy hike; however, the reward at the end is well worth it. Awesome 360 degree view at the summit. Pack a light jacket or sweatshirt as the temperature and wind can be much different than the base.
