Lignos Folklore Museum
Pyrgos - Located at one of the highest points of Santorini and offering panoramic views of the whole island all the way to the village of Oia. It is one of the best-preserved villages, its casteli, squares with pine trees, picturesque paths, mansions and churches make it one of the most fruitful settlements on the island – afterall the name of the fortress at the top ‘Pyrgos Kallistis’ means ‘the most beautiful tower’. It used to be the capital of Santorini around the 16th century attracting notable inhabitants as well as members of the island’s spiritual community and to this day it retains a unique ambience and nobility. Walk around this beautiful village perched on a hill and walk right up to the top through the narrow streets, stop by Madame Sousou for wine and bites and spectacular views. For breakfast try out Brusco and for lunch or dinner head to Kantouni or Kallisti Tavern one of the oldest in the village serving traditional Greek dishes. All located in the main square of Pyrgos.

Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Oia’s main pedestrian street, this newly renovated multifaceted space functions not only as a restaurant but also as a Greek-style deli and cava and art space featuring unique wines and beers from Santorini along with a variety of local products such as local cheeses and cured meats to go with your wine, smoked trout, fava and lots more as well as an art shop.
Its peaceful ambience and delicious food celebrating the island’s produce definitely makes this place worth a visit! The staff is also very helpful giving advice and explaining the different products! Tell them Emily from Lotza sent you!
