Pyrgos - Located at one of the highest points of Santorini and offering panoramic views of the whole island all the way to the village of Oia. It is one of the best-preserved villages, its casteli, squares with pine trees, picturesque paths, mansions and churches make it one of the most fruitful settlements on the island – afterall the name of the fortress at the top ‘Pyrgos Kallistis’ means ‘the most beautiful tower’. It used to be the capital of Santorini around the 16th century attracting notable inhabitants as well as members of the island’s spiritual community and to this day it retains a unique ambience and nobility. Walk around this beautiful village perched on a hill and walk right up to the top through the narrow streets, stop by Madame Sousou for wine and bites and spectacular views. Don’t miss a stop at Crossroad Antiques Santorini to have a look at some unique historical items, you may meet the owner Lefteris who has also creative the Santorini Archive project that you can checkout online to see some amazing old photographs pf the island. Tell him you are staying with Emily from Oia and say hi from me J Later on, as dusk approaches, head to Franco’s café/bar at the top of the hill to enjoy your drink whilst watching a spectacular sunset view …take a shawl, as it can be windy but worth the climb up through the picturesque little streets! For breakfast try out Brusco and for lunch or dinner head to Kantouni or Kallisti Tavern one of the oldest in the village serving traditional Greek dishes. All located in the main square of Pyrgos. For something more special check out ‘Rosmary’ or Cava Alta - An elevated Greek dining experience overlooking the entire island.

Traditional Cypriot cuisine, which is a fusion between Middle Eastern and Greek cuisine. Beautiful ambience, especially on Wednesday and Saturday evenings when there is traditional live Greek music, songs by Kostas and Ionnas, along with sunset views from their terrace– (may need a reservation on the night of live music)

You must visit this untouched, authentic gem of a place - a little fishing port, a picturesque tavern serving tasty Greek dishes, fresh fish and seafood! Nikos will make sure your visit is unforgettable, tell him Emily from Oia sent you! There is foot path for you to walk down, beginning at Aspithia restaurant (just along Oia’s main pedestrian walkway) if you decide to walk down, or else I recommend we make a call and reserve a table and the restaurant will offer its pick up and drop off boat service from Ammoudi bay which you can walk, drive or get a taxi to! Or else you can get the daily ‘latza’ public boat service that goes from Ammoudi to Armeni daily - it departs from Ammoudi at 12:20 pm and returns at around 17:30 from Armeni. Take a swim and relax by the water, looking out to the stunning views of the caldera before or after your meal. You won't regret it! (make a reservation to secure your boat ride to and from Amoudi bay)!

Tell him you are staying with Emily from Oia and say hi from me  Later on, as dusk approaches, head to Franco’s café/bar at the top of the hill to enjoy your drink whilst watching a spectacular sunset view …take a shawl, as it can be windy but worth the climb up through the picturesque little streets! For breakfast try out Brusco and for lunch or dinner head to Kantouni or Kallisti Tavern one of the oldest in the village serving traditional Greek dishes. All located in the main square of Pyrgos.
