Old Post Office is originally a fourteenth century manor house with a topsy-turvy slate roof, recently restored and now one of the National Trust’s most attractive small buildings. In addition, there is a Roman milestone from around 250AD in the parish church. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/tintagel-old-post-office

Local Beaches

Bossiney Haven (Bossiney Cove) is a secluded picturesque cove that has an excellent beach at low tide and is generally a quiet "get away". At high states of the tide, There is no beach at Bossiney, but as the waters receded, they reveal a fine beach of golden sand which stretches from Bossiney Haven around the the headland to the neighbouring sands of Benoath Cove- accessible from Bossiney or a steep acess path. The lack of Life guards and the steep descent to the beach, means that you must apply a degree of caution and common sense in terms of personal safety.

Trebarwith Strand is just over two miles from Tintagel (about 4 miles from us) along the north Cornwall heritage coastline landmarked by Gull Rock. The sandy beach becomes completely covered at high tide and is accessed over rocks when approached from the pretty village of Treknow down a picturesque valley. The Strand Cafe provides drinks and snacks throughout the main holiday seasons. And the Port William Pub provides amazing views great location for a sundowner drink. Dogs allowed all year round. Lifeguard cover from June until the end of September. Surfing information: Suitable for Intermediate and experienced surfers only.

Tregadock beach is a locals gem, completely out of the beaten track as there is limited parking plus long climb down to the mainly tidal beach, but worth the visit for the more adventurous. I recommended to go once the tide has already started to go out to make the most of your time there, bring only a rucksack so you can have free hands for the climb down the beach, and plenty of water. Dogs ate not allowed after Easter till end of September.

Local villages

Tintagel is our closest and is renowned for its association with the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The magic of the association is captured particularly by the castle, King Arthur's Castle, which is reached by steps leading from the main land, or via the new castle bridge, inaugurated September 2019 by English Heritage. Originally the Castle was attached to the main land but by erosion over the years a bridge had to be built. There are many beaches around such as Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney, but the Castle Beach is renowned as a very safe bathing beach. For the visitor to Tintagel there are many attractions to see in the village but specially the cliffs areas are what drawn most to the rugged North Cornish Coast. In Tintagel you will find small local supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants, pasties shops, galleries and crystal and gift shops.

A charming fishing village and a must go for "Doc Martin" fans. Port Isaac has been an attractive fishing village since the early fourteenth century. Its narrow, winding streets are lined with old white-washed cottages and traditional granite, slate-fronted Cornish houses, many of which are listed as of architectural or historic importance. Visitors are advised to use the large car park at the top of the hill and to walk down to the village, as the narrow streets can be difficult to negotiate. There is a stunning view of the coast from this car park, in addition to easy access to both Port Isaac and Port Gaverne. On the subject of narrow streets, Port Isaac is renown for having one of the narrowest thoroughfares in Britain, the aptly named Squeezy Belly Alley!

As you may well know, the North Cornish Coast is very popular for its surf beaches and lifestyle vibe. We do provide some boogie boards for the ones just wanting some relaxed fun, but if you would like to have a proper go and learn a new skill look no further than George's surf school. Located at Polzeath beach only 20 minutes drive from us its the perfect place to learn for its sandy and not tidal beach. George's got a great approach for its lessons and its surely a fun and relaxed experience.

200 acres of garden history, mystery and romance. Thirty years ago, Heligan’s historic gardens were unknown and unseen; lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1. It was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to the restoration of this once great estate. Today, The Lost Gardens have been put back where they belong: in pride of place among the finest gardens in England.
