Swimming Spots

Dupont Forest has a hike with 3 popular waterfalls and 2 of them have great swimming spots. This is a 3-mile hike. The best swimming areas are at Hooker Falls (which is technically not on Triple Falls Trail, but same area), which has a huge pool area and you can also find a natural water slide at High Falls, but I wouldn’t suggest young kids on the slide.

There are also some great spots in Gorges State Park, but that is a little more of a drive. Rainbow Falls is probably the most popular one, which is a huge waterfall. You can swim there or go father up the river to Turtle Back Falls which has a natural slide off a waterfall. Very cool and highly recommended. This hike is a 4.5-mile hike in and out. I would suggest caution around Turtle Back Falls. It can be very dangerous to newcomers, but with the right precaution, can be a fun time.

Skinny Dip Falls on the parkway is also a very popular swimming spot. No worries, nobody actually Skinny Dips, and its a very beautiful waterfall with a cool spot to jump into the water from. This is a pretty simple hike of just around 1 mile there and back.
