Beaches
"Wow!" is probably the best way to describe this beach.
A small bay backed by dunes and pine trees, accessible only by a half mile walk from the nearest car park. Swathes of golden sand and crystal clear waters, Barafundle has been voted many, many times as one of the best beaches in Britain and the world; it’s often likened to a Caribbean beach! This pristine beach is isolated which means no facilities; so everything you take has to come back up over the cliffs.

Sightseeing
A fleet of boats run to Caldey Ialnd from Tenby Harbour, every day except Sunday, throughout the summer months, weather permitting. Tickets can be bought from the relevant booth on the harbour.
Caldey Island has been inhabited for many centuries by various orders of monks and is currently owned by the Cistercian Order, living in the beautiful Abbey, found just a few minutes walk from the landing stage.
There are a variety of churches on the island ranging from the Abbey Church where the monks conduct their seven daily services, but explore a little further and you will discover the Old Priory with its old limestone church and also the little Norman church of St David's. On the cliff overlooking Priory Beach you will also find Caldey Calvary and the Watchtower Chapel.
On the far side of the island you can walk to the lighthouse and enjoy the spectacular views. If you wish there is also a marked cliff path allowing you to explore the island and perhaps see the Atlantic Grey Seals and other birds and wildlife.
Also look out for the Chocolate Factory and Abbey Gift Shop selling perfume and shortbread baked in the Monastery.

Take in the enormous Cathedral Caverns on route to the cliffs of Caldey where we may see the seals in the distance, basking on the rocks. Suitable for all the family and great value!

The medieval buildings and grounds were a private retreat for the bishops from everyday life and there is a still a sense of this serenity today. The estate included orchards, gardens, fishponds and deer parks.
Many of the surviving structures were built by Bishop Henry de Gower, who also created much of St David’s Palace. Particularly fine features include the 13th-century inner gatehouse and long hall, the latter the oldest part of the complex, as well as an undercroft and remnants of decorative windows.
The site has a long history after the Reformation, including a haunting by an Elizabethan gentleman, occupation during the Civil War, and use as farm buildings.
Free admission, seasonal opening times (please check the website), and free parking in a layby across the road.
