This is a wonderful town on the pilgrim route of Saint Jacques de Compostela and the abbey is beautiful. It was founded in the 10th century. Wonderful narrow streets and a wonderful market square. The abbey is a UNESCO world heritage site. Jacobins - cloister and convent also beautiful. Great market on a Saturday.

Home to Bayonne Ham - great food - the mouth of the Adour River....that winds it way from Sengresse all the way there.
Historic alleyways...great cafes and restaurants...perfect place to amble around.

Head to the Fontaine Chaud, amble around the pedestrianised streets....Dax isn't big but it has some nice bars and restaurants and the Cathedral is beautiful. One of our favourite things to do is to head to the very famous home of the Madeleine - family run for generations.

Our closest village (well we're equi-distant between Souprosse and Mugron), but Bastiat once lived at Sengresse is honoured in Mugron - and the town square is named after him and there is a bust in his honour. You'll find the market here on a Thursday and Saturday. Beautiful church. Lovely indpendent shops - including our Boulangerie.
