Completed between 1942 and 1945, the park is a beautiful building, which consists of 3 sections: The first, which is a gable-shaped chamber of an architectural style inspired by the ancient Maya. The second section is a construction that features the pleasant setting of the Mayan hut showing totemic figures that are peculiarly Yucatecan, the pheasant and the deer. The third section is the outdoor theater, with an acoustic shell. Located beside this is the Iberian Cultural Center, a building that housed for many years the Iberica hospital and was abandoned since the mid-60s. Later restoration was initiated and it currently offers workshops for seniors and a Bachelor of Performing Arts in the College of Arts Yucatan (ESAY).

[EN] If Mérida’s heat has you dying for a quick beach fix, or if you want to see the longest pier (6.5km) in Mexico, head to Progreso (aka Puerto Progreso). The front strip (malecón) can get packed with diners, drinkers and oversunned tourists, as can the beach (even though it's loooong). Nevertheless, Progreso maintains a relaxed beach-town vibe. As with other Gulf beaches, the water is murky, even on calm days. Winds can hit full force in the afternoon and evenings, especially from December to March when los nortes (northern winds) kick up.

The Ruta Puuc (Puuc Route) meanders through rolling hills dotted with seldom-visited Maya ruins sitting in dense forests. A road branches off to the east (5km south of Kabah) and winds past the ruins of Sayil, Xlapak and Labná, eventually leading to the Grutas de Loltún. The sites offer some marvelous architectural detail and a deeper acquaintance with the Puuc Maya civilization.

The majesty of Chichen Itza is recognized throughout the world. The amount of international tourism that visits this site daily is the main indicator of the great curiosity caused by the architectural vestiges of the Mayan Civilization.
The pleasure of discovering Chichen Itza is to investigate in depth the new evidence that archaeologists clear day by day. Platforms, walls, roads (sacbeo´ob, in maya), altars, friezes, steles, columns, lintels, masks and sculptures are iconographic elements that manage to amaze us and meet the expectations of the most demanding explorer of the pre-Hispanic world.
The emblematic building of Chichen Itza, the Kukulcan Castle, owes its importance to its location to the center of the square, its height, the stairs on all four sides and the snake heads that point towards the Sacred Cenote, characteristics that demonstrate its connection with the dominance, government and religion of the community of this legendary Mayan city.
The latest findings have brought to light several hidden buildings.

Chichen Itza, its wonderful castle and other wonders
Chichen Itza is the most famous dead city in the Mayan world and is located by road 120 km east of the city of Merida. For some it had its splendor between the years 600 and 900 B.C. It was abandoned until the arrival of the Itzáes that gave it its name, and a new boom, with buildings that show highland influences.
For others, due to recent research that cast doubt on this supposed historical sequence, it seems that the different architectural styles developed in the same period. Because the findings show the possibility that Chichen was not abandoned but had a continuing occupation that began before the Christian era until the arrival of the Spaniards in 1526.
Its most important buildings are: the Castle that is its symbol; the Caracol, remarkable and interesting construction from whose interior the Mayan astrologers observed patients and rigorous through the windows that look at important astronomical points the movement of the stars; the Ball Game whose parameters are decorated with reliefs alluding to the game that demonstrate the importance it had in the life and cosmogony of the pre-Hispanic peoples and the Temple of the Thousand Columns and that of the Warriors, with the elements alluding to their names that show Influence of the Pucc style associated with highland features seated on a 6 km platform that constitutes the center of the City.
The Castle is the most important construction in the area, and it has been interpreted as the material expression of a calendar, since if the steps of the 4 stairs and the upper platform are added, there are 365 which are the days of the year. The nine bodies of the pyramid being divided by the staircase add up to 18, which are the months of the indigenous year and have 52 boards as decoration on each facade, number equal to the years that form a Mesoamerican century ...
The above constitutes the explanation, the sufficient reason, that in a survey conducted by a Swiss company via the Internet, it has placed Chichen Itza as one of the seven new wonders in the world. The Great Wall, the Colosseum of Rome, the Christ Redeemer of Brazil, the Taj Mahal in India, the city of Petra of Jordan and the Machu Pichu of Peru.
However, I think that Chichen Itza Castle has enormous potential to gain positions, since our Castle is a creative work, because as we have already said, it constitutes the expression of a calendar: the Maya is also a universal work made for man regardless of borders, ideologies and policies. Monumental in talent and wisdom.

is in our opinion: a spark of ingenuity that causes a burst of joy.
"When during the dance - Pacheco Cruz tells us - someone was saying loudly! Bomba !, the music stopped, a dancer recited to his partner a foursome a good joke or smoke (witty) that caused hilarity or applause; inside good morals and without going beyond the limits of decency; the verse recited it in the Mayan language whenever it was a popular dance. "
The bomba is in our opinion: a spark of ingenuity that causes a burst of joy. It is currently spoken in Spanish and takes the form of a rhymed octosyllabic stanza; It is usually a foursome, although occasionally it can have more feet of verses. The bomb, originated in Spain, is not exclusive to Yucatan.
We had the opportunity to hear dancers from Puerto Rico shout bomba! In the middle of his popular dances and the music is interrupted and a dancer goes ahead and recites a stanza. We also know that in Cuba the dancer of the end of the last century had interrupted the melodic development of the traditional Cuban zapateo (considered as the typical dance of the Caribbean island and written in 6x8 measure) to intersperse a tenth, improvised almost always, in tribute to his "beloved criollita".
In volume IV of the Yucatanense Encyclopedia we read that "in the course of a piece one of the attendees throws this exclamation strongly: Bomba !, then the music is suspended and each dancer must woo his partner through a stanza that declares in voice high, sometimes the dancer answers in the same way as a compliment. The bomb can be descriptive in terms of personal qualities or dresses that adorn the aforementioned, or cover the tone of guasa, choteo or joke. Yucatecas is, however, usually restrained. "
"The voice ¡bomba! It comes from Spanish custom similar to the one pointed out here but it should be recognized that this exclamation has taken a naturalization letter in the Yucatecan dairy farms, from where it has subsequently spread through several regions of the Gulf of Mexico coast." At the end of the recitation the audience shouts ¡Bravo! And the jarana continues.

¡Estos “yucas” me destellan
y su música es hermosa!
“Papagayo” es “papalote”
y la “pita” es un “costal”;
a la “taza” dicen “pote”
¡Qué bonito está Sisal!
“Tu pirix”, es un insulto…
Estar “poch”, “estar “ansioso”;
El “k’as loco” es un “inculto”
y “padrote”, “muy hermoso”.
Dicen “¡sho!” para que calles,
“ponte xux”, es “ponte vivo”.
“¡Mare, mare!”, son detalles
que no sé cómo describo.
