Sightseeing

Fun places to explore for amazing views or something fun to do with the family or friends.
As told by its name, Punta Sur is the southernmost point of the island. In fact, it is the easternmost point of Mexico, making it the first spot to see the sun rise in the country. There are a few shops, food trucks and even a restaurant near Punta Sur or for a small entrance fee you can walk the pathways of the cliffs and out to the ruins of an ancient Mayan Temple honoring the Moon Goddess. It’s a beautiful look out point over to the Caribbean sea or to the neighboring land of Cancun. Admission is about $30 MXN or $2-3 USD.

Every year, thousands of giant sea turtles lay their eggs on the sandy beaches of Isla Mujeres. Their eggs are gathered and placed in pens at the Turtle Farm to protect them from predators. For a small entrance fee, you can tour the facility and see various species of sea turtles and other marine life. The mission of Tortugranja is conservation and rehabilitation of different marine life, not to permanently house them. Depending on the time of year, you can see and feed baby sea turtles before they are released back into the ocean. All entrance fee donations help maintain their efforts. Every year hundreds of sea turtles survive thanks to Tortugranja and the support of its visitors. Although not large, it’s worth the stop! Entrance is about $30 MXN (or $3 USD) and is open daily 9 AM - 5 PM.
