Annely's favourite supermarket is definitely Albert Heijn. When she's in the Netherlands she often buys; Tony Chocolonely chocolate bar (caramel sea salt, orange package), “mais brood” (corn flour bread) with fresh egg spread and Hamka's crisps.
At Albert Heijn’s inhouse bakery they have also delicious "kaasbroodjes" (melted cheese covered with puffy pastry dough) and "gevulde koeken" (almond pastries).

They made a Groningen version of the Buffalo Mozarella and also Ricotta. Worth to try!
Ria and Annely love eating pizza at this place. It is hard to find as the place is in a little side street. Follow the directions of the Hema store, it is at the opposite side of the street. Their homemade limoncello is perfect - sweet, sour and icecold!

The Martinitoren (Martini Tower) is the highest church steeple in the city of Groningen. It is 97meters high and was completed in 1482. You can climb to the top (no elevators) and it gives you an amazing view of the city.

The Groningen railway station is the prettiest station of the Netherlands (according to Dutch public transport travellers).
The station building was designed by Izaak Gosschalk and combines Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance elements.
Under the station you will find the biggest free bike parking of Groningen, it has room for 5000 bikes. It is full of bikes and has bike elevators too, to optimize the space. Park your bike in the racks, otherwise it will get removed and sold by the municipality. Don’t forget your rusty one, because you can only park for a maximum of 10 days. Afterwards it will be removed and sold.

A small "hofje" (courtyard) in the side street of the Peperstraat. It's a small garden in the city center of Groningen. You can hardly believe such an quiet area exists in the city. Groningen has multiple hidden “hofjes”. Most of the citizens living in these "hofjes" are elderly people. Annely her grandparents (Ria's parents) were married in the little church in 1957.
Another pretty "hofje" is the Pelstergasthuis, which is near the favourite pizzeria of Ria and Annely.
Walk in for free but please be quiet.
