Food Scene

Duende’s inspirational is authentic regional Spanish cuisine, but with equal parts traditional and contemporary influences. Their cuisine is comprised of local, sustainable ingredients. Offerings from the kitchen include small plates of Tapas and Pintxos, intermediate selections of Raciones, as well as gorgeous pans of Paella and Fideua, all designed to be shared amongst family and friends. Additionally, to encourage their guests to expand their circle of friends, Duende has focused a significant portion of its dining room on communal seating, because what better way to enjoy great food and drink than making new friends along the way!

Drinks & Nightlife

The Alley has been in operation since 1933, making it the oldest piano bar in Oakland. Rod Dibble tickles the ivories here and patrons can even sing karaoke to their favorite jazz tunes. A great time is sure to be had for anyone who loves Jazz.

Parks & Nature

Lake Merritt is an iconic park in Oakland. It stretches about 3-4 miles around the lake and features places such as Children's Fairyland (where Walt Disney took inspiration to create Disneyland), bird estuaries, parks, the Lake Merritt Pergola where people tend to dance, play music or practice martial arts, the Lake Chalet and more! It's one of my favorite places in Oakland.

Tilden State Park is a little known piece of wilderness right here so close to SF! You'll feel like you're in the middle of the woods hiking here. It's accessible by bus or car and offers stunning views of the bay area.

Arts & Culture

This museum has great exhibitions and every Friday night has an off the grid party where food trucks line up on the closed street and musicians come to play. People dance, eat amazing food and meet new friends.

Just a short BART ride away is the Bay Street Shopping Mall. It has an IKEA, Target, and all of the traditional stores you find in malls. There is a movie theater and lots of restaurants too.

Essentials

This Whole Foods is the unofficial center of our little community here in Adams Point. The people who work there are friendly and it is not unusual to see people hanging out eating outside at the tables and making new friends.

Getting Around

BART is the subway system of the bay area. The closest stop to me is the 19th Street Station. It is centrally located in the Uptown neighborhood and just a 10 minute walk from my apartment.
