The premier free-to-enjoy outdoors spot and part of the Dallas Marathon course, White Rock Lake is a runner, cyclist, or kayaker's delight. A little over 9 miles in diameter with an amazing view of several multi-million dollar homes along the west side, it's easy to spend a whole day here without getting bored.

White Rock doesn't have quite enough beautiful people and cosmopolitan scenery for you? Check out the Katy Trail, a fully-paved, 3.5-mile procession from just south of SMU all the way to the American Airlines Center in downtown. You can even get to the northern trailhead by taking the DART Rail Red or Orange Lines down to Mockingbird Station if you're up for it!

Check out the Katy Trail, a fully-paved, 3.5-mile procession from just south of SMU all the way to the American Airlines Center in downtown. You can even get to the northern trailhead by taking the DART Rail Red or Orange Lines down to Mockingbird Station if you're up for it!

The first of three awesome breweries less than five miles from us, Four Bullets is cool and kind of hilarious because it's nestled away in an old, quasi-abandoned strip of industrial space along abandoned train tracks, behind a Chevy dealership. If that isn't the perfect craft beer scene then I don't know what is. Be advised: These guys only open their doors Thursday/Friday from 4-9pm, Saturdays from noon-6pm.

This is the DART rail station that's closest to us, although it is a bit too far to walk. Plenty of parking though, so if you want to head into downtown but don't want to deal with parking this is always the right choice.
