Tin Box is so good we usually eat there a few times while on Vieques. The menu is split between barbeque and sushi. Sounds strange, I know, but the food is so good. It's a great stop for a delicious a cozy, by-the-jungle alfresco dinner.

Buen Provecho is both a market and a restaurant. You can find premium meats, cheeses, vegetables and kitchen sundries. They make a killer breakfast (pickup or eat at a tiny bar) and have great gourmet sandwiches for lunch. And they are charming people.

While all dining in Vieques (for the most part) is alfresco, El Quenepo is one of the more upscale dining experiences. Located in Esperanza on the beach (just down from Duffy's and Bananas) El Quenepo is a must-visit dinner experience (reservations needed). Sooo good. Charming owner.

Bar/Happy Hour Scene

El Blok is a newer modern boutique hotel in Vieques located in Esperanza. They have an upscale dinner menu and are a great option for a more upscale dinner - but our favorite reasons to visit are 1) the Sunday evening sunset happy hour on the rooftop bar with the best sunset views in Vieques, and 2) the downstairs bar - which has the best craft cocktails on the island.

Lazy Jack's is a bar adjacent to a guest hostel in Esperanza by the ocean. It's a super casual outdoor bar with no-frills bar food and strong drinks. It's frequented by locals (gringos) who are off work from tourist jobs. It's usually loud and friendly - and is a good place to get hammered after a day at the beach.

Groceries/Supplies

There are 2 grocery stores in Vieques - both owned by the Morales family. There is one on Carratera 200 a couple of minutes from Casa Corona. The other is in Isabel Segunda. Morales is a must-shop if you want groceries in Vieques - but it's very utilitarian...basic grocery store items and affordable foods. Nothing fancy or upscale - so you will probably be disappointed in the meats, cheeses and vegetables. They accept cash and credit - and are friendly and helpful. There's a farmers market on various days on Carratera 201 near the intersection of Carratera 200 if you want to find better veges. You can also check out Buen Provecho for more upscale goods.

Large public beach near Esperanza. Very wide bay with great views. Also a favorite of local Vieques residents. NOTE: There is a small cash fee to get into the park (where you'll also find roads leading to Playa Navio and Playa Media Luna)... I think it's like $5 per car.

Sightseeing

Mosquito Pier was created by the US Navy for large ship docking, and Vieques hoped cruise ships would choose to anchor there (but they haven't). It's also the future ferry port (but not yet). For fun, there is great snorkeling around the rocks by the pier. I assume some fish there too (but that's not my thing).

Transportation

Vieques airport with flights to the Main Island (Ceiba, Isla Grande and San Juan airports) as well as flights to Culebra and other islands. We typically fly Vieques Air Link but there are several other small airlines to choose from. Typically planes carry about 8-10 passengers.
