Food Scene

One of my favorite Italian spots! After visiting Italy, I became very picky with the cuisine. The staff is Italian, and there is just a great and fresh authentic feel in this place. Order everything, I haven't been disappointed by any choices.

This is an iconic pizza place with its most famous slice being, of course, Artichoke. It's super heavy so you might want to share..or not. This location is also right next to the Highline - an elevated train track turned into a park, right next to the Hudson. Beautiful neighborhood to walk around and see some art galleries too.

If you like chicken and waffles, you HAVE TO go here. It's one of my favorite places ever. They have a lot of crazy flavors, and other things on the menu too, and delicious cocktails and desserts. They just do a lot of things well.

This place is less than a block away from my apartment. Delicious coffee and baked goods. Cute place to get some work done, or hang out before heading out to a busy day.

If you're staying in Queens, it would be a waste to not try Colombian food. If you head on the 7 a few stops to the 82nd street station, you'll find yourself in Little Colombia - this restaurant is the quintessential place to have this amazing cuisine

Drinks & Nightlife

It's a nice, chill place to have a drink and enjoy people without feeling overwhelmed or having music that is too loud. Great for "a drink" or two. I recommend their Old Fashions drink menu, particularly the Oaxaca Old Fashioned.

This place is not very known, but still attracts a bit of a crowd because of its beautiful view of Manhattan across the East River. It has a full bar with a surprisingly German-inspired food menu (not very vegetarian friendly). To get there, you have to go down an alley, don't worry, go through the metal fence and you'll find yourself with a wonderful surprise. Best to go right before sunset!

If you like Christmas, you'll love this bar! I believe its decorated as if it were December all year long, but either way their interior design is stunning! You'll feel transported

This place is awesome! It's on a re-purposed boat turned restaurant and bar. Go here to catch a gorgeous sunset on the Hudson and some much needed fresh breeze during NY summers. Go here for the drinks, the food is decent too. My favorite is the watermelon beer and the white wine sangria. They sometimes have live music, usually folk or country.

Parks & Nature

It's actually an elevated train track that was abandoned years ago. Recently, it was renovated as a park/trail of sorts. Beautiful view, a great place to explore with your loved one, friends, family, etc. It can get crowded on the weekends, best to go throughout the week. This place is sometimes overlooked by visitors, its definitely worth checking out.

I love this place to hang around as you're moving from one neighborhood to the next - it always has people doing entertaining activities, live music, and great places to take pictures/selfies. This is also an iconic setting in When Harry Met Sally for anyone who cares.

Sightseeing

As a native New Yorker, I love this bridge and all the areas around it, despite it being "super touristy." It's a great place to bike, walk, enjoy the views, and also reach great places to hang out and eat, particularly on the Brooklyn side, which has a whole arts and food scene at the end of the bridge. Bring your comfortable shoes!

Arts & Culture

This one is a no-brainer. It's definitely worth it, full of exquisite exhibits, especially the Planetarium, and Ocean Life and Butterfly rooms. You can be here for the whole day so be ready and get there early because it closes early. Just a tip: admission prices are RECOMMENDED. You can pay whatever you want to get in, even $1.

This place is great, fun for all ages and really shows you the history of NY's transit system, which I'm sure you'll be wondering about as you enter the crazy transportation hubs. It's a 15 minute taxi ride from the apartment :)

Essentials

This is the supermarket I go to, it's a block away from the house and usually has good sales. There are 3 others in the neighborhood, almost as close and actually bigger so you can take your pick.

I go to this laundromat - it's the newest, cleanest one in the area. They have pick up service, no dry cleaning I think.
