One of my favorite drives in the PNW is from Portland to Hood River! On the drive, stop at McMenamins - Edgefield for a quick bite, then drive another 15 minutes to Vista House and take in the amazing view of the gorge from above. Hop back in for another 45 minute drive along the Historic Columbia River Highway to Multnomah Falls - stop along the way at the many smaller falls and hiking trails if you have time. Only another 30 minute drive to Hood River where you will find wineries, tasting rooms, breweries, restaurants, shops and KITE SURFERS (in the summer months)!
