Elizabeth's is an excellent spot for local New Orleans brunch or breakfast. When you're done, walk accross the street to Crescent City Park. It's hidden from the street view, but allows you a beautiful walk along the river. It ends just before the French Market and Frenchmen Street.

Pin a dollar on your shirt for birthdays
It is customary for people to pin dollar bills to the front of someone's shirt on their birthday. Usually friends or family members pin the first few dollars. Occationally a stranger may be willing to add to your collection. If nothing else, you will have many people wish you a "happy birthday"

When going to the french quarter, it is recommended to simply walk a couple of blocks instead of having a car take you directly to/from either Bourbon or Frenchmen St. You'll save time, money, and sanity by avoiding these streets in a car.

Respect and Enjoy the Second Lines
Our home is located directly on one of the main community second line routes. These typically occurr on Sundays. If you walk outside and find the streets are filled with food, drinks, families, and fun, feel free to join in. Respect that many people are there to bond with their community members - this is not a tourist experience. However, you are welcome to join in the fun. You may come across second lines in other parts of town. If it is for a wedding, hop on in and start dancing. If it is for a funeral, please stand by and respect those in mourning.

Mardi Gras Custums
Many families have designated spots that they stake out for specific Mardi Gras parades. They may start to bring their tarps, chairs, and ladders a couple days in advance of a parade. Please do not force yourself into their space. Politely walk farther down the street until you find a space without a tarp or watch from farther back.
