$$$ Nine Mile is a casual full-service vegetarian-friendly restaurant and bar with two locations in Asheville, NC. The original location is in the heart of Historic Montford. The newest location is in Downtown West Asheville on Haywood Rd.
Our cuisine consists of Caribbean inspired pasta dishes, rice dishes, a handful of traditional pasta dishes, daily specials, and an array of locally made desserts.
We carry a variety of local and micro brews as well as a specially picked selection of wine. The West Asheville location also serves an array of Caribbean Cocktails.

Somewhere between warm and regal, the space is filled with visual treasures of vintage service-ware, rich black and gold curtains, and locally built furniture and fixtures by Iron Maiden Studios. The 14-foot high windows dominating two of walls, allow for plants to thrive by filling the room with natural light during the day. At night soft lights and candles create an inviting glow for guests and passersby. Since opening in the main room we have expanded with a dining area in our mezzanine and worked with the city to utilize former street parking for an outdoor patio.

This short mile-high hike offers huge rewards. It's only a 1.4-mile round-trip hike to the top of the 5,892-ft. summit, Craggy Pinnacle. at Craggy Gardens. The exceptional panoramic 360-degree views are hard to beat in Western North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. The hiking trail goes through tunnels of rhododendron, gnarled sweet birch trees and wildflowers. Near the top, there are side trails to explore.

The area contains a collection of trails that are well suited to a variety of riding styles: beginning and intermediate mountain bikers, families, and groups can have a great time here, but with some trails containing big climbs and technical sections, more advanced riders will also find the trails enjoyable.
Though less advanced riders may find them difficult, none of the trails in the Bent Creek trail system are considered extremely technical - especially since most have been re-graded and maintained in recent years. Most of the trails follow old road or railroad beds and have only a few areas that require significant technical skill, with steeps, rocks, roots, mud, and creek crossings.

Old Time music, the precursor to Blue Grass, reflects the cultures that settled North America. The roots of old-time music are in the traditional musics of the British Isles, (England and Scotland), Ireland and Africa, even French and German influences.

One long wall of the bar is a gorgeous mural by well-known local artist Ben Betsalel. 5 Walnut also has live music every night and makes it a priority to book local bands.
Adjacent to 5 Walnut is the owner’s latest project: 5 Walnut Cheese Bar. Offering a variety of cheeses, charcuterie, and other local fare, the Cheese Bar brings the finest of “fromage” for you to enjoy with a glass of wine and/or to take home.
