When visiting the Cascades I recommend hiking boots. Two trails, one more difficult and rocky than the other. The Cascades at the end of the trail is well worth the hike. Take a plunge in the chilly waters in the summer, or wonder at the beauty of ice and snow for a winter hike. Local gas station close to the park has great food & ice cream!

Take a plunge in the chilly waters in the summer, or wonder at the beauty of ice and snow for a winter hike. Local gas station close to the park has great food & ice cream!

Take Rt 8 to CC Camp Road at bottom of trail to enjoy a couple miles that meander along the creek in the shade. More ambitious hikers may want to do the entire 10 mile loop. For the entire loop, we prefer to start down off CC Camp Rd. From the parking lot start along the trail, then take the first path to the right to go up the mountain. This will loop around and come down on the other side of the creek trail, giving a nice cool down time back to the parking lot. Farmhouse along the creek trail claims to be the first painted house in Floyd county.
