30 minutes from Collingwood along the road following the pristine beach. A leisurely 15 minute walk along the well signed track takes you over farm land, through a small patch of bush and down the sand dunes. People come from all over the world to head to this amazing Beach. With Seals and Caves, many take their cameras to watch the sunsets and a couple times a year you may be the lucky one to capture that photo of the suns rays shining through the hole in the rock as it sets. Suggest best time is at low tide so you can visit the caves to the Right and if your up to it, take a walk to the Left along the beach to see more caves , approx 600 meters walk.

The little museum building in the Historical Collingwood township was once the Jail during the settlers time. You will thoroughly enjoy seeing the relics of the gold mining era and the many minerals that were mined from this area. There are a few original buildings that survived the great fire in 1904. Collingwood was mapped out to be New Zealands Capital City but as it never eventuated, Wellington was then chosen as the Capital.
