Food Scene

Best Mexican food on the River -- I recommend trying out "tapas" of appetizers instead of actual meals. The mini-skewers are amazing!

If you're feeling lazy and don't want to go far, right across the street is the Gunter Bakery. It has really cheap breakfast til 11am, nice seating outdoors. Their tacos are pretty good for downtown!

Arguably some of the best breakfast tacos in town. There's sometimes a long line, but no worries! Rolando's Super Taco and Fina's Kitchen are two great options a couple blocks west.

Essentials

If you forget something at home and don't want to go far, Walgreens is definitely the place to go. It's downtown so a bit pricier but it's got a nice outside and is really close by.

Shopping

Sometimes Walgreens is closed, so if I want a late night red bull or snack, I head over here. They recently started serving Blue Bell ice cream (a Texas tradition) at cheap prices if you're interested

If you're looking for one place to do all your shopping, the Quarry is it. Besides a Whole Foods/Trader Joes, they have clothes outlets, Hofbrau/EZ's restaurants, and a movie theater.

Sightseeing

Really takes you back a few hundred years into what life might have been like back then. Nice grounds to walk around on and offer church services on the weekend.

Great free place to see the city and skyline -- you only pay for parking but can walk from the apt. Really great happy hour specials M-F: http://www.toweroftheamericas.com/documents/HappyHourMenu.pdf
