This is a favorite for families with young children. It is a short 2 minute walk down to a protected beach with sand! It is a 7 minute drive towards Sooke, and even on some foggy windy days it is sunny! Low tide is best for playing at the beach.

Botanical Beach is just past Port Renfrew, about 45-1 hr drive from our place. But it is well worth the drive. A 15 minute walk from the main parking lot you will find amazing beaches to explore.
Low tide, about 4 feet or less, offers the best viewing opportunities of the many organisms that inhabit the shoreline and tide pools at Botanical Beach. You’ll come across sea urchins, starfish, chitons and anemones, as well as mussels, barnacles, and snails of all sorts.
Botanical Beach also features many geological marvels, producing some of the most picturesque terrain. You’ll want to bring the camera on this excursion.

Just down the hill from us is our favorite little Cafe: The Cold Shoulder. The local owners make all their own baking, and serve a great coffee. They also serve a great chili of soup to warm up with. My favorite are their sausage roll, but pretty much everything is great there! They are open from 10 am-5:00pm most days, Closed on Tuesdays.
