If you're keen skiers, mountain bikers or walkers, Nevis Range is the place for you. The Gondola runs year-round but check before showing up as poor weather will shut it down without much warning. There is a cafe and bike hire shop at the base.

An hour and 40 minutes from Fort Augustus is the misty Isle of Skye. This is a well worth a day trip. On the way to Skye you'll pass the world famous movie location of Eilean Donan Castle.

Fort George is an operational barracks and is home to the Black Watch Regiment. It is the only remaining intact barracks built by General Wade to calm the restless Jacobites. The other two being Fort William and Fort George. Well worth a visit.
