For the adventure traveler, try a night or two in a sheep wagon. Home on wheels to early sheep herders in the mountains of Montana, this hand built wagon sits on our 30 acre farm. Finished under canvas with tongue and groove bug-killed pine, this small space offers a unique lodging experience. Inside is a nice queen size bed, 2 bench seats, and a pull out dining table. Enjoy mountain views from the outside bench, chair & fire pit.
Enjoy the view of the mountains from the small outside deck. A fire pit and seating are provided for enjoying the evening. The sheepherder stove is disconnected right now, but there's a small electric heater and a small fan provided. The sheep wagon has power outlets and we'll provide that first cup of morning coffee/tea. (Then there's a great local coffee roaster in Sheridan.) You'll find storage under the bed for your gear. The sheep wagon is in front of our shop, where there's access to the bathroom (sink, toilet, shower). The chuck wagon box on the back of the wagon provides a great place to set up your cooking (we can provide a portable stove if needed). Plus there's numerous great restaurants and a brewery a short drive away.
Located in the Ruby Valley of Montana, we're surrounded by mountain ranges and blue ribbon trout streams. Enjoy the brewery follies, historic buildings, melodrama performances, restaurants, ice creamery, charming gift shops, photo opportunities, and the Alder Gulch Short Line historic train.
Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park near Cardwell is known as the most decorated limestone cavern in the Northwest. Exploring Historic Uptown Butte Montana is not to be missed.

Don’t forget a trip to Yellowstone National Park, 100 miles away, and don’t bother with lodging or crowds, just come back here after spending the day exploring all the beauty.
It might be obvious that we like this area. A caveat - it is a rural ranching community, so we have no big box stores and it can be considered pretty quiet around here.
