This is the original Spice Bus that fans will know and love from the movie Spice World but with an interior makeover. Working with some incredible designers, we’ve turned it into accommodation so you can stay the night and live out every fan’s wildest dreams. The bus has the added bonus of being situated in an stunning location overlooking the marina. There is a Bar, Restaurant and a small shop on site. You can reach us by land, air or sea!
The outside of the bus looks exactly as it did in the Spice World movie, with its iconic Union Jack-painted exterior. I’m a huge fan of the band and have tried to include as many little touches as possible inspired by the girls and their music, to make the inside just as iconic as the outside! Inside, guests will have the run of both floors, which have been lovingly renovated with little nods to each of the Spice Girls and some fairly bold interiors. The bus can sleep up to three people, with two sharing a double bed and one on a single day bed. Downstairs: The driver’s seat remains at the front of the bus – sadly no Meatloaf! Towards the back of the bus there’s a spacious seating area with a table and three Union Jack cinema-style chairs for relaxing in front of the TV or listening to Wannabe on repeat on the old school CD player. Upstairs: There is a double bed at the back of the bus, as well as a day bed, which can accommodate a third guest if needed. There is also a separate dressing room area, complete with rail and dressing table – perfect for Spice Girl-inspired makeovers. Please note, I have no official affiliation with the Spice Girls - I just want fellow fans to enjoy the Spice Bus as much as I have. I’m looking for guests who share my love of the Spice Girls, have a verified Airbnb profile and have great reviews! Please also identify your guests when requesting to book. A facilities block will be located a few steps from the bus for your private use. In the facilities block, there will be a toilet, sink and shower room, as well as toiletries and towels. Within this block there is also a kitchenette area with a sink, kettle, microwave, cutlery and crockery. There is a mini fridge inside the bus. Note, there are no bathroom facilities on the bus itself. As the bus still has it’s original structure, there are a number of steps so unfortunately, it is not suited for all accessibility needs. Other things to note: ● There are no kitchen facilities or running water on the bus. There are shops and a restaurant within a minutes’ walk ● There is no WiFi on the bus, there is WiFi at the onsite bar/restaurant ● The bus will be located on Island Harbour Marina ● All guests must be 12 years or older ● The bus sleeps three people ● Height restrictions are 1.7 metres so watch your head! ● Towels will be provided in the separate facilities block ● The bus has electricity points Please also note there is no smoking on the bus or within the grounds and sadly no pets allowed!
The bus is located within a stunning marina based on the River Medina, just 2 miles from Newport town centre where there are lots of shops, restaurants and bars. It is reachable on foot within approximately 25 minutes or there is a bus stop half a mile up the lane. You will also find Medina Leisure Centre and Theatre close by. The Isle of Wight is an incredible place to visit, for what's going on during your stay take a look at Visit Isle of Wight!

This exciting tree house is fantastic for families as well as a romantic breaks for couples and a unique getaway for groups of friends. You have the upmost privacy as you are right in the centre of nature. The Treehouse offers a bit of natural luxury, set in peaceful woodland surroundings, with lots of natural timber and slate decor, smart bedlinen, fluffy towels and a contemporary bathroom. It sleeps 4-6, having a master bedroom, a bunk room, and a hayloft area with double futon. The sleep-house is joined by decking to a separate cosy living-house, with logburner and full kitchen facilities, with a big outdoor deck and BBQ facilities below. The treehouse has been newly built to extremely high standards, is fully insulated and is lovely and cosy and warm and comfortable. The Treehouse is divided into 2 separate pods - the Living Pod and the Sleeping Pod and joined by smart decking. The Living pod comprises one lovely timber clad room with kitchen area, dining table and benches, and sofa - and is heated with a cosy log burning stove. French doors lead out onto a sunny decking area for al fresco eating, relaxing and entertaining. Eco friendly products are provided in the kitchen and the bathroom, as the waste water runs away through a reedbed back in the woods. We have purposefully not installed TV's, and hope that this will enhance your stay, and encourage conversation and good old fashioned play ! However we have included free Wifi, so you can plan your days and keep in touch with the real world if necessary ! Books, puzzles and games are all provided. We are situated on the North coast of the Island, within 5 mins of both major car ferries, it is really easy to get to by car, taxi or by bike, and we have plenty of parking, and safe places to put your bikes. We are in a great location on the edge of the village of Wootton, where there are shops - mini Tesco, pharmacy, petrol, Majestic, etc ! It is just 3 mins drive to the High Street. We are also only about a 7 min drive down to East Cowes, where there is a Waitrose. And 4 mins from a lovely farmshop with cafe/restaurant. So you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere - in lovely rural peace and quiet - but you are really not far from civilisation at all ! And it's a great starting point for visiting places all over the Island , where there is a huge variety of things to do for all ages and preferences ! A Centrally located Coastal Retreat in the Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor, which even has its own micro climate and festival! Urban luxury, personal touches and cosy comforts ensure a memorable stay.
The Corner House is a modern and cosy cottage, with original exposed ceilings and chimney breast, reflecting the Victorian heritage of the property. Couples, families, walkers, cyclists and dogs are welcome at The Corner House and we try to provide personal touches and amenities for all. The modern fully integrated kitchen includes a dishwasher, fridge & washing machine. There is a cosy living and small dining area with a quaint courtyard for relaxing, eating or drinking. The courtyard also has a storage rack for bikes. There are beautiful stripped Victorian floorboards throughout the house. Upstairs these are the backdrop for a luxurious slipper bath (with shower attachment), within the open bedroom suite (Don't worry, the toilet is behind closed doors!). The bedroom suite upstairs is designed to wow! Exposed beams and chandelier lighting highlighting the stunning open ceiling. There are complimentary towels for your use. You'll struggle to find a bolthole with more character and style than The Corner House... A couple of things to note; There is a travel cot available. We also have a single fold out bed that maybe used at The Corner House subject to availability. This would allow an extra child to stay in the bedroom. Please let us know if you would like to make use of the bed before booking as it maybe being used in another house. There is an extra charge for the 3rd guest. There is no separate shower. The Corner House is dog friendly, but as its quite small we only allow 1 small dog and we ask that the dog is kept downstairs. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog.
Ventnor is a Victorian Seaside Town. The Esplanade showcases a traditional Victorian feel, with it's very own island shaped paddling pool! Remote cosy, self catering, stable conversion cottage surrounded by large garden, fields, woodland and plenty of wildlife. The small double bed room is suited to a couple. 5 minutes to the Fishbourne and 15 minutes to East Cowes car ferries.
Kennels Cottage was once the workers cottage for the hunting dogs for a larger estate. The stable conversion is attached to our main house. The property has an acre of garden, a large field in front with Firestone Copse beyond and another copse behind the house. The area is home to red squirrels, badgers, foxes and many species of bird. The main space is a combined kitchen living room, the bathroom has a shower cubicle and toilet and the cosy bedroom has a double bed. All linen and towels provided. There is Smart TV in the living room with Netflix, iplayer, etc. In the kitchen area there is a fridge freezer, microwave, conventional oven and all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery are provided. Wifi throughout. There are electric heaters, if you wish to use the woodburner logs can be purchased nearby or bring your own. The space is suited to a single person or a couple. Well behaved dogs are welcome all year. In the winter months - small/medium sized dogs only. Anything else you may need just let us know.
A private road leads down to the cottage which is attached to our main house, in its own grounds.

If you are looking for somewhere truly unique to stay The Crow's Nest is the perfect couples hideaway. Think of it as your own luxury treehouse overlooking the beach. Winner of the 2019 Lux Travel Most Romantic Beachfront Accommodation. A cedar cabin nestled high into the cliffside on Ventnor seafront, the sea views are breath-taking. It has bi-fold windows along 2 sides, opening up your room so it's just you, the sea and the horizon. The Crow's Nest is part of The Cabin, Ventnor Beach.
The Crow's Nest has one main open plan room (20sq metres inside) with a kingsize bed overlooking the sea, Nespresso coffee machine, Wi-Fi, smart tv and fluffy robes. It has a separate rainfall shower (in the main room) and separate cloakroom with toilet and wash basin. It also has a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and hairdryer. Outside is a gas BBQ with hob if you fancy cooking (no oven). There are a wonderful choice of pubs and restaurants just a few minutes walk away. For your arrival we will also supply a starter pack of Nespresso, teas and hot chocolate together with biscuits and fresh milk. The Crow's Nest has a large south facing 16 square metre private balcony with stunning sea views. The balcony has 2 sun loungers, sofa and armchair plus folding dining table and chairs. The balcony connects to the room with bi-fold doors. It also has a small rear planted area with gazebo.
Ventnor is a beautiful seaside town, nestled behind the downs on the south side of the Isle of Wight. It was a popular resort in the Victorian era due to its warm micro climate and therapeutic sea air. It has several lovely sandy beaches, local shops and a great selection of pubs and restaurants both on the seafront and up in the small town. Fresh fish and crab is available along the seafront and available in most restaurants. There are amazing coastal walks both east and west of Ventnor, or just stay put and soak up the view!

Driftwood is a luxury, converted boathouse with stunning views of the creek from every room. It's in an area of outstanding natural beauty. You'll love the pool, kayaking up the creek, fishing from the pontoons, cosy log-burner and amazing sunsets. Driftwood is a beautiful converted boathouse on the water's edge, in the woodland grounds of our home. With creek views from every room, it's a great place to unwind and escape all year round. Relax and BBQ by the large pool, fish and crab from the private pontoons and slipways or use one of the kayaks to paddle up Wootton Creek (an area of outstanding natural beauty and haven for wildlife). In winter you can cosy up next to the huge log-burner and truly relax. Driftwood is ideal for walkers and cyclists as it's on the Isle of Wight Coastal Path, only 5 minutes walk from the Fishbourne Ferry; easy if you want to leave your car at home. A local bike hire company will arrange for hire bikes to be delivered to you as soon as you arrive so you'll be able to use the numerous cycle ways to explore the beautiful island scenery. On the ground floor there is a spacious open-plan dining, kitchen and living area with oak floors and a large log-burner. The kitchen is well-equipped with a large American fridge freezer and Dualit Nespresso coffee machine. There's also a shower and toilet, a utility room with washing machine and microwave, and a large entrance hall. Double doors open to the patio area next to the pool, where there is teak dining furniture and a Weber barbecue. Upstairs there is one double bedroom with a double bed and ensuite shower room, and two additional double bedrooms with twin beds in each. The large family bathroom has his and hers sinks plus a luxurious roll-top bath where you can relax and enjoy the views over the creek. The very large south-facing swimming pool projects out into the creek and provides a panoramic view as you relax on the loungers, settee and chairs and enjoy the sunset. The house comfortably sleeps 6 people but can stretch to 7 if the downstairs day-bed is used. (There is an extra charge of £30 for extra linen and towels if the day bed is required). You have access to the whole house, the pool ( shared with our family), pontoons and slipways. You are also welcome to share the grounds with us. We don’t want you to go home without seeing the red squirrels, wood peckers and buzzards . We’ll pop down to see you when you arrive or whenever you want us, but won’t if you don’t! Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum of 2 dogs). Please let us know if you would like to bring a dog. We ask that they are kept downstairs and not left alone in the main living area. There is a tiled hallway where they can look out of the door at the view! There is an extra cleaning charge of £30 per dog. This will be requested as an extra charge through Airbnb. We live on a quiet leafy lane, just 5 minutes walk from the car ferry, the award-winning local pub and Fishbourne beach. Fishbourne has its own very friendly yacht club so if you’re a sailor or would like to be one, just let us know and we can organise a day’s sailing or some lessons. Walk 10 minutes along the coastal path and you’ll find Quarr Abbey with its beautiful church, ancient ruins, fantastic café, farm shop, nature trails and pigs. Fishbourne is centrally located and is a great base for exploring the whole Island. We are just 9 minutes drive from the Isle of Wight Festival site. Cowes with its famous August sailing week, is just 20 minutes away. By car: There are 2 parking spaces right next to the boathouse. By bicycle: If you bring your own, you can store it in our shed. We provide cycling maps and a pump! The Isle of Wight is a cyclists’ paradise with lots of fantastic cycle routes and a cycling festival ( in October). You can hire bikes from Two Elements in Cowes and they will deliver the bikes to you. By foot: You can walk from the ferry and don’t have to bring your car. We are right on the Isle of Wight coastal path so you can walk anywhere, very easily! We provide walking maps and lots of suggestions for the best places to go. There is a Walking Festival in September. By bus: The bus stop is 10 minutes walk away. Buses will take you all over the Isle of Wight. By air: The nearest airport is Southampton, but Bournemouth, Gatwick and Heathrow are all good as well. If you have your own small plane you can land on the Island at Bembridge and we will come and get you. By private boat: If you'd like to arrive by boat just let us know. We can arrange for you to be picked up in Portsmouth and transported by very fast rib directly to our pontoon (weather and tide dependant of course). If you have your own boat, you can moor it on our pontoon during your stay. Just contact us to find out more. Because of its beautiful location, our house has been used for photo shoots. Please get in contact if you would like to arrange a shoot. It's not far to go if you'd like to rent a rib, learn to drive one or have a fast rib ride. Our good friends and neighbours, Rebel Marine, are right next door and will arrange everything for you. If it's a nice day, we might use the pool too but it’s so big there’s plenty of room for all of us! The pool is heated to remove the chill; please don't expect it to be hot! The pool is open from May to end of September. It is the only pool on the island that is right on the water.

  • Hvis du tilfeldigvis velger de hotteste dagene i juni, er Båthuset definitivt stedet å være. Hyppige fall i svømmebassenget lar deg holde deg kjølig mens du nyter den fantastiske utsikten. Barnebarna var inn og ut av bassenget under hele oppholdet, og likte kajakkpadling langs bekken. Det var god plass i huset og ingen mangel på fasiliteter og spill for å holde alle opptatt. Catharine & Giles fikk oss alle til å føle oss veldig velkomne og rolige, og vi vil anbefale naustet.

  • Naustet er en virkelig wow-faktor, når du kommer ned til det ser du den nydelige utsikten over vannet. Selve huset var perfekt for de seks av oss, rikelig med felles plass, komfortable senger og flotte kjøkkenfasiliteter. Bassengområdet var også flott, vi gjorde mye bruk av det. Vi dro også ut på kajakkene og robåten og hadde det veldig bra, så godt at vi kunne bruke dem. Vi var 6 voksne som bodde i huset. Det tredje soverommet har mindre enkeltsenger, perfekt for barn. Var ikke noe problem for oss, noe du bør tenke på hvis du har mange høye mennesker i gruppen. Catherine og Giles var fantastiske verter, alt var så enkelt! Totalt sett hadde et flott opphold og vil definitivt ombooke!

  • Plasseringen av Catherine's båthus er fantastisk! Fantastisk utsikt og nær fergen. Vi hadde en så fin tid. Vi hadde 3 småbarn med oss og huset var veldig godt egnet for barn. Interiøret var veldig rent og pent innredet. Huset er litt trekkfullt, men dette gjorde ikke noe for vår glede. Ved til komfyren er ikke inkludert, men det er noen på stedet du kan kjøpe fra Catharine. Alt i alt, fantastisk tur!

    This small quaint fisherman's cottage is close to the sea with sea views from the front bedroom. Based in the famous Victorian seaside town of Ventnor. Bay Cottage is walking distance to the seafront, restaurants, pubs, shops, bus stops, Victorian promenade, cafes and wonderful walking routes. Free 24hr parking close by. This car park becomes busy from Easter to Autumn. There are fee-paying car parks close by at Dudley Street, Market Street, Town Centre (Central) and along the seafront.
    This is a charming, quaint end of terrace fisherman's cottage. Downstairs is a functional, well equipped 4 seater kitchen diner, with fridge, electric oven and grill, washing machine and tumble dryer. The lounge comfortably seats 4 people and has a TV, CD player and electric log style fire. The cottage has full gas central heating and double glazing. Downstairs has a small shower room with toilet and basin. The toilet is located in the only space available in the shower room and is a tighter squeeze for larger people. However, there is an upstairs toilet. It has been mentioned by some guests, the shower room and the shower cubicle is small.....which it is. Some guests have suggested we could make the shower room into a wet room, but we would be concerned for guest safety, we wish to avoid guests slipping and falling on a wet floor, which may happen if this room became a wet room. While the stairs are steep, there is a handrail on both sides of the stairwell for assistance if needed. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms. The front bedroom has a queen-sized bed, wardrobe, hairdryer, mirror and a sea view. The second bedroom is very cosy for space once 2 beds are erected. The second bed in this room is a pull out bed. Some guests have mentioned the pull-out bed is not so comfortable for a heavy adult. Guest looking to book Bay Cottage for 4 adults would need to consider this feedback if looking to book and stay for more than 2 nights. If only one bed is in use the room is quite a good size. This bedroom also has a wardrobe and mirror. There is an upstairs toilet and basin. Bath and hand towels are provided, and beds are prepared before guests arrive. So that guests may make a drink on arrival, we leave fresh milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar. The cottage has Wi-Fi. Mobile phone reception is limited due to the position of the cottage to the nearest cell tower.
    Very peaceful road, very little one way traffic. Short walk to town centre and stunning coastline.

    Shanklin Manor dates back to the Doomsday Book and has previously been a house and farm, being the home to the various Lords of the Shanklin Manor for many years. It was purchased by the local council in the early 20th century, with much of the land put into public ownership, such as Big Meade park and Shanklin Cricket Club, with the house sold on to the Workers’ Travel Association for a hotel for the underprivileged and then turned into a luxurious hotel in 1979. It has now been extensively renovated and restored to bring it back to its former glory, as well as meet the demands of the modern world. The duplex apartment comprises of two large bedrooms, one a master double bedroom with ensuite and the second twin bedroom, as well as a family bathroom, all on the first floor. There is also a toilet on the ground floor. All of the bedrooms benefit from parkland and woodland views, as well as views across farmland. The living area on the ground floor is spacious and open plan, with separate seating area with leather sofas and a home cinema and music system with LCD TV, HD DVD/CD player, Freeview, mobile/tablet jack and radio tuner, with speakers and controls in all bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a dining area and kitchen. The kitchen includes an integrated dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave, all with a granite worksurface and kitchen lighting. The grounds and gardens extend out to 2 acres, with a listed walled garden and summerhouse, as well as a private gate for access the adjacent picturesque parkland. Just next door is Shanklin Cricket Club, where you can enjoy a summer’s afternoon watching the action, as well as the Big Meade park surrounding the manor, with open grassland, a duck pond and children’s play area. Finally, the historic St Blasius’ Church can be found at the entrance to Shanklin Manor, which was the former church to the manor and dates back to 12th century. Just five minutes walk away is the Old Village, with the famous thatched cottages and a selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants, and the main town centre following afterwards. Finally, it is just five minutes walk from the cliff top and Esplanade with its sandy beaches.

    Highlands takes its name from the imposing Victorian residence that stood on the cliff top site for over 100 years. Originally built for the Lord Mayor of London, Sir James Thomson Ritchie, and subsequently used by Reverend William Page Roberts, Bishop of Salisbury, for his final years, it was later owned by the McAuslane family, who turned it into a well known hotel. After its closure, it was then used by Upper Chine School for its final years. After being left for a decade, the current Highlands was then constructed, a grand and impressive mock Georgian manor house that lived up to its predecessor in terms of scale and views across Shanklin.     The Hikers' Hut at Highcliff, is a magical timber hut with stunning sea views over the east coast of the Isle of Wight. Situated on the cliff edge 100m above the shoreline between Shanklin and Ventnor, the famous Isle of Wight Coastal Path is at the front gate. The Hut borders a National Trust field and is a perfect cabin for hikers, bird watchers, beach goers and nature lovers. With its own separate entrance and garden, it sits in the apple orchard of Highcliff Estate, Luccombe.
    The Hikers' Hut includes, one double bed on a mezzanine and two singles in bunk beds on the ground floor. A small kitchenette includes under counter fridge/freezer, microwave with grill, and a two hob burner. The hut also has an ensuite shower room. There are dining tables inside and out on the deck. The Highcliff Estate sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Each side of the Highcliff Estate is bounded by National Trust property. Haddons Pit to the north is maintained by the National Trust as grassland, usually grazed by a few cattle in the summer, and visited by over 100 migratory bird species including locally nesting peregrine falcons. The garden at Highcliff is also a popular wildlife destination, so keep your eyes peeled for the butterflies, red squirrels, barn owls, pheasants, woodpeckers and the "black rabbits". You may also see the occasional para-glider floating above the hut having launched off from Haddon's Pit next door or listen out for a Spitfire flyby, you will hear their lovely engines first. The Coastguard helicopter is another frequent sighting. Getting to the Hikers' Hut: On foot: It is an easy destination on foot for those on a walking holiday coming via Portsmouth. Catch the Wightlink passenger ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde Pier Head, then the little red Island train (a 1930's London tube train) from Ryde Pier to Shanklin, and then its a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute (£6) taxi ride to the Hikers Hut. By Car: The Hikers' Hut is about a 30 minute drive from the car ferries at East Cowes or Fishbourne.
    The Coastal Path is right outside the front gate. Turn left and you have one of the most popular coastal walks on the Island from Shanklin to Ventnor, through the Landslip, ancient woodlands, and hidden narrow steps up a sheer rockface known as Devil's Chimney. Carry on for Blake's fish and chips at the quay at Ventnor, or head around to the charming Steephill Cove. If you want to make it a really full days walk then aim for St Catherines Lighthouse and get a taxi home. Turn right outside the cottage and walk down the hill to the amazing Shanklin Chine with its waterfall and botanical gorge, Shanklin old town, or the beaches of Shanklin and Sandown. You can access the beach below the cottage by a spectacular set of steps that cut down the cliff face at the bottom of Luccombe Road. These steps will bring you out at the thatched roof Fisherman's Cottage pub located on the beach. At low tide you can walk south from the cliff steps to the rock ledges and sandy beach immediately below the hut. Shanklin high street is about a 15-20 minute walk away or 5 minute drive.

    Self contained cosy and comfortable annexe attached to our home. Secluded and off the beaten track but close to all amenities and the seafront. Guests have access to the garden which has stunning views to the white cliffs of Culver Down.
    The Annexe is spacious for two with separate bedroom (double bed), lounge/diner, kitchenette and wet room style bathroom. The living room and bedroom are carpeted. The kitchen has vinyl flooring and the wet room is tiled .
    Shanklin is a seaside town with wonderful clean beaches. The old village of Shanklin is mainly old thatch cottages and very pretty. The rest of the island is a joy for walkers and recreational cyclists with over 500 miles of public footpaths and bridleways to explore. The Red Squirrel Cycle Trail is adjacent to the property and over 60% of the island is classed as AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The island caters very well for tourists and there are quite a number of events during the year. The following are our favourites but there are many more! The Isle of Wight Randonne. A hugely popular event of 100/50 km. It's not a race, but a family event and has been running for over 30 years. It's free to enter, but you must pre register on line. The Walking Festival. See the very best of the English countryside from sand dunes and pebbly beaches to thatched villages and bustling sailing towns. There are organised and guided events, covering many topics. 1st Round the Island Yacht Race. See more than 1700 yachts race round the island. An amazing sight when all the spinnakers are flying! Cowes Week, an 8 day sailing regatta dating back to 1826. If you like yachts this is the place to see them, from 100 year old wooden day boats to carbon fibre ultra modern machines. Isle of Wight Cycling Festival. This encompasses popular events such as the 70 mile "Cycle the Wight"; Chevy Chase Enduro; Hills Killer MTB Challenge. Not for the faint hearted! There is also just lazing on the beach, with the occasional foray into the beautiful clean sea with a body board or snorkel!!

And a garden room which sleeps 3 , You are welcome to use my kitchen in the morning and evening and share the dining room, sitting room , bathroomand garden and use the garage if you need to store anything.. You are welcome to use the 5 push bikes there. There are good cycle tracks around and outstanding scenery.There s ample parking on the drive, upto 3 cars.
    Its a quiet picturesque country side, friendly neighbours, nice gardens and happy singing birds in the mornings and the odd woodpecker is trying to join in the medley .Badgers and foxes are doing their rounds at night and looking for food and raiding bins if not secured. There are many red squirrels in the woods behind the bungalow.

Henk har velstelt plener foran og bak med mange flotte busker rundt ... masse Hagemøbler for avslapning i solen! Vi elsket spesielt Henks Golden Retriever Codey, veldig stilig og en flott personlighet hvis det er litt stædig til tider.     We present a Victorian seaside villa in a quiet road within walking distance of beaches, restaurants and shops also close to cycle paths and walks. We have three cheerful labradors who like company and we all benefit from the space and comfort this house provides. There is enough room to relax quietly if you want to but company around for information or a chat when you need it. And of course a garden for that healthy fresh air..
    We have lived in this house for 21 years and nursed it back to health - it was semi-derelict - at the same time as bringing up our children. It was built in about 1860 and shows some scars of it's varied history, but we love it and restored it to make a wonderful family home. We have a shared lounge with TV; also a shared dining room/quiet room.We live on the premises and have adult children who visit from time to time, we love visitors. We do expect smokers to smoke outside - and all are welcome to enjoy the enclosed back garden at any time.
    Shanklin is a small town in the south-east corner of the Isle of Wight with charming attractions, walks and views plus plenty of good places to eat. It appeals to all ages in search of gentler adventures, activities, beaches and family fun, and is a good base for exploring the south & east of the Island. For those who want some more excitement there is a local watersports centre offering a wide range of facilities including surf boards, surf skis, wind-surfers, canoes, paddle-boards all with tuition. There is also kite-surfing and of course a range of conventional sailing dinghies, catamarans, jet-skis and for a bit of quiet escape, fishing from the shore and from boats too. Not forgetting horse-riding and a host of other on-shore past-times too.

The famous Isle of Wight Coastal Path is at the front gate.
    Highcliff Cottage sits adjacent to the 1870's built Highcliff House. The cottage is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although a cliche, the 180 degree sea view is an ever changing spectacle. Whether it's the sun or moon reflecting off the sea, a storm thrashing up the waves hammering the shoreline or the myriad of passing yachts, cruise ships and other vessels, there is always something drawing your attention out to sea. Wake up early and watch a stunning sunrise, or in the evening have a glass of wine on the deck as the golden light of the setting sun bounces off the white chalk of Culver Cliff across Sandown Bay. The vibrant blues, greys, greens and turquoises of the sea are a mesmerising vista.  At night the lights of Shanklin and Sandown illuminate the darknesss and the Esplanade street lights mark out the arc of the bay. The flashing lights of the Nab Tower, which marks the entrance to the Solent, which all large ships steer by, flicker off shore, as do the twinkling lights of towns and navigation markers all along the English south coast, from the Witterings to Brighton. In winter, when the air is thin, the night lights of the mainland south coast are particularly bright and stunning. If you happen to be here during a full moon, seeing it rise up over the English Channel at night is an extraordinary sight. The horizon is curved, the moon is spherical and you realise you are standing on a planet floating around in a much larger universe. 
    The Coastal Path is right outside the front gate. Turn left and you have one of the most popular coastal walks on the Island from Shanklin to Ventnor, through the Landslip, ancient woodlands, and hidden narrow steps up a sheer rockface known as Devil's Chimney. Carry on for Blake's fish and chips at the quay at Ventnor, or head around to the charming Steephill Cove. If you want to make it a really full days walk then aim for St Catherines Lighthouse and get a taxi home. Turn right outside the cottage and walk down the hill to the amazing Shanklin Chine with its waterfall and botanical gorge, Shanklin old town, or the beaches of Shanklin and Sandown. You can access the beach below the cottage by a spectacular set of steps that cut down the cliff face at the bottom of Luccombe Road. These steps will bring you out at the thatched roof Fisherman's Cottage pub located on the beach. At low tide you can walk south from the cliff steps to the rock ledges and sandy beach immediately below the cottage. Shanklin high street is about a 15-20 minute walk away or 5 minute drive.

We have a local RNLI boat station and the well-known Bembridge Windmill.

Along the seafront there are numerous tea/coffee/ kiosks offering anything from local ice creams to homemade cakes. There are also many pubs within walking distance to choose from if you fancy eating out or a 10 min walk where there is a supermarket. There are also many takeaway shops 2 minutes up the road - Fish and Chips, Pizza, Chineese etc. There is an old part of Shanklin with thatched cottages which is well known for its tea rooms.

    The Garden Apartment at Lyon Court has been refurbished to a very high standard and takes up the entire storey at garden level. With the ceiling height in excess of 8 feet in most rooms, stylish dimmable LED downlights throughout and large windows and doors, it makes for a very bright, airy apartment. There is underfloor heating with porcelain, vintage wood effect floor tiling throughout, giving it a Mediterranean feel.
    The kitchen is equipped with a family sized fridge/freezer, a range cooker with 2 ovens, a grill and an induction hob with 5 burners, a full sized dishwasher and a dedicated wine cooler which is perfect when catering for 8 people! We were unable to buy a kettle that would make 8 cups of tea at once, so we have installed a Grohe instant boiling water system in the kitchen so that everyone can have their morning tea/coffee at the same time. The dining area has a large table and seating for everyone with a large chandelier above. There are French doors that open out on to the South facing terrace, equipped with a private hot tub overlooking the gardens and pool. The Hot tub has been upgraded and now has an integrated ozonator, which reduces the need for as much chlorine, making for a more pleasant bathing experience. This is also much better for those with sensitive skin. The lounge area is equipped with a 49" smart flatscreen TV and comfy seating for when you fancy chilling out. A wireless access point has also been installed, giving a fast wifi connection throughout the whole apartment and on the terrace The master bathroom is equipped with a huge p shaped bath with shower over, twin basins within a large vanity unit with a huge separately lit mirror above. The WC has an integral toddler training seat, so no need to bring your own. The second family bathroom is equipped with a standard sized bath with shower over and a large single basin. The WC has an integral toddler training seat, so no need to bring your own. The en-suite to bedroom 2 is equipped with a large shower enclosure, and a vanity unit with basin and large separately lit mirror. Grohe taps and showers have been installed throughout to give the apartment a quality finish, that you might expect from a high quality hotel. We have just installed 3 x 300 litre unvented hot water cylinders that provide hot water at mains pressure. No more weak showers! Bedroom 1 has a king sized bed, a large wardrobe and a comfy sofa/daybed, with direct access to the eastern side of the building. A cot can also be accommodated if required. Bedroom 2 has a king sized bed, a large wardrobe and its own en-suite shower room. Bedroom 3 has a king sized bed, a large wardrobe and French doors to the South facing terrace overlooking the gardens and pool. Bedroom 4 has twin single beds, a large wardrobe and French doors to the South facing terrace overlooking the gardens and pool. The pool, sauna and hot tub are available to use from the late May bank holiday weekend until the end of September.
    Westhill Road has its own Residents Association and is a quiet, peaceful and safe community. Within 10 minutes walk you can be in Shanklin Old Village enjoying a meal or a drink in one of the many thatched hostelries there, or on the beach/esplanade in a further 5 minutes.

Just five minutes walk away is the Old Village, with the famous thatched cottages and a selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants, and the main town centre following afterwards. Finally, it is just a few minutes from the cliff top and Esplanade with its sandy beaches.
